Entrusted with the Gospel

For you yourselves^G846 know^G6063, brothers^G80, that our entrance^G1529 to you was not in^G2756 vain^G2756,

1Th 2:2but after we had already suffered and been mistreated in Philippi, as you know, we had the boldness in our God to speak to you the gospel of God amid much struggle.

1Th 2:3

1Th 2:3For our exhortation does not come from error or impurity or [fn]by way of deceit;

1Th 2:4

1Th 2:4but just as we have been approved by God to be entrusted with the gospel, so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who [fn]examines our hearts.

1Th 2:5

1Th 2:5For we never came with a flattering word, as you know, nor with a pretext for greed—God is witness—

1Th 2:6

1Th 2:6nor seeking glory from men, either from you or from others, even though as apostles of Christ we [fn]could have been a burden to you.

1Th 2:7

1Th 2:7But we [fn]proved to be [fn]gentle [fn]among you, as a nursing mother [fn]tenderly cares for her own children.

1Th 2:8

1Th 2:8In this way, having fond affection for you, we were pleased to impart to you not only the gospel of God but also our own [fn]lives, because you had become beloved to us.

1Th 2:9

For you remember^G3421, brothers^G80, our labor^G2873 and hardship^G3449, how working^G2038 night^G3571 and day^G2250 so^G4314 as not to be^G1912 a^G1912 burden^G1912 to^G1912 any^G5100 of you, we proclaimed^G2784 to you the gospel^G2098 of God^G2316.

1Th 2:10

1Th 2:10You are witnesses, and so is God, of how devoutly and righteously and blamelessly we [fn]behaved toward you [fn]believers;

1Th 2:11

1Th 2:11just as you know how we were exhorting and encouraging and bearing witness to each one of you as a father would his own children,

1Th 2:12

1Th 2:12so that you would walk in a manner worthy of the God who calls you into His own kingdom and glory.

1Th 2:13

And for this^G3778 reason^G1223 we also^G2532 thank^G2168 God^G2316 without^G89 ceasing^G89 that when you received^G3880 the word^G3056 of God^G2316 which^G3739 you heard^G191 from us, you accepted^G1209 it not as the word^G3056 of men^G444, but for what^G2531 it really^G230 is, the word^G3056 of God^G2316, which^G3739 also^G2532 is at work^G1754 in you who believe^G4100.

1Th 2:14

1Th 2:14For you, brothers, became imitators of the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in Judea, for you also suffered the same things at the hands of your own countrymen, even as they did from the Jews,

1Th 2:15

1Th 2:15who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and [fn]drove us out, and do not please God, and are hostile to all men,

1Th 2:16

1Th 2:16hindering us from speaking to the Gentiles so that they may be saved; with the result that they always fill up the measure of their sins. But wrath has come upon them [fn]to the utmost.

1Th 2:17

But we, brothers^G80, having been taken^G642 away^G642 from you for a [fn]short^G2540^G5610 while^G5610—in face^G4383 but not in heart^G2588—were all^G4056 the^G4056 more^G4056 eager^G4704 with great^G4183 desire^G1939 to see^G3708 your face^G4383.
