Overcoming the World

Everyone^G3956 who believes^G4100 that Jesus^G2424 is the [fn]Christ^G5547 has been [fn]born^G1080 of God^G2316, and everyone^G3956 who loves^G25 the [fn]One who gives new birth^G1080 loves^G25 also^G2532 the one who has been [fn]born^G1080 of Him.

1Jo 5:2

1Jo 5:2By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and do His commandments.

1Jo 5:3

1Jo 5:3For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments; and His commandments are not burdensome.

1Jo 5:4

1Jo 5:4For everything that has been [fn]born of God overcomes the world; and this is the overcoming that has overcome the world—our faith.

1Jo 5:5

Who^G5101 is the one who overcomes^G3528 the world^G2889, but he who believes^G4100 that Jesus^G2424 is the Son^G5207 of God^G2316?

1Jo 5:6

1Jo 5:6This is the One who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not [fn]with the water only, but [fn]with the water and [fn]with the blood. It is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is the truth.

1Jo 5:7

1Jo 5:7For there are three that bear witness:

1Jo 5:8 [fn]the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are [fn]in agreement.

1Jo 5:9

1Jo 5:9If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for the witness of God is this, that He has borne witness about His Son.

1Jo 5:10

1Jo 5:10The one who believes in the Son of God has this witness in himself. The one who does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has borne witness about His Son.

1Jo 5:11

1Jo 5:11And the witness is this, that God gave us eternal life, and this life is in His Son.

1Jo 5:12

1Jo 5:12He who has the Son has the life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have that life.

1Jo 5:14And this is the confidence which we have [fn]before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.

1Jo 5:15And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked from Him.

1Jo 5:16

1Jo 5:17

1Jo 5:17All unrighteousness is sin, and there is a sin not leading to death.

1Jo 5:18

We know^G6063 that no^G3956^G3756 one^G3956 who has been [fn]born^G1080 of God^G2316 sins^G264; but He who was [fn]begotten^G1080 of God^G2316 keeps^G5083 him, and the evil^G4190 one^G4190 does not touch^G681 him.

1Jo 5:19We know that we are of God, and that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.

1Jo 5:20

1Jo 5:20And we know that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that we may know Him who is true; and we are in Him who is true, in His Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God and eternal life.
