Offerings for the Temple

Then King^H4428 David^H1732 said^H559 to the entire^H3605 assembly^H6951, “My son^H1121 Solomon^H8010, whom alone^H259 God^H430 has chosen^H977, is still young^H5288 and inexperienced^H7390 and the work^H4399 is great^H1419; for the [fn]temple^H1002 is not for man^H120, but for Yahweh^H3068 God^H430.

1Ch 29:2

1Ch 29:2“Now with all my power I have prepared for the house of my God the gold for the things of gold, and the silver for the things of silver, and the bronze for the things of bronze, the iron for the things of iron, and wood for the things of wood, onyx stones and inlaid stones, stones of antimony and stones of various colors, and all kinds of precious stones and alabaster in abundance.

1Ch 29:3

1Ch 29:3“Moreover, in my pleasure in the house of my God, the treasure I have of gold and silver, I give to the house of my God, over and above all that I have already prepared for the holy [fn]house,

1Ch 29:4

1Ch 29:4namely, [fn]3,000 talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and [fn]7,000 talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the [fn]buildings;

1Ch 29:5

1Ch 29:5of gold for the things of gold and of silver for the things of silver, that is, for all the work done by the hand of craftsmen. Who then would offer willingly [fn]to ordain himself this day to Yahweh?”

1Ch 29:6

Then the commanders^H8269 of the fathers’^H1 households, and the commanders^H8269 of the tribes^H7626 of Israel^H3478, and the commanders^H8269 of thousands^H505 and of hundreds^H3967, with the commanders^H8269 of the king’s^H4428 work^H4399, offered^H5068 willingly^H5068;

1Ch 29:7

1Ch 29:7and for the service for the house of God they gave 5,000 talents and 10,000 [fn]darics of gold, and 10,000 talents of silver, and 18,000 talents of brass, and 100,000 talents of iron.

1Ch 29:8

1Ch 29:8 [fn]And whoever possessed precious stones gave them to the treasury of the house of Yahweh, [fn]in the care of Jehiel the Gershonite.

1Ch 29:9

1Ch 29:9Then the people were glad because they had offered so willingly, for they made their freewill offering to Yahweh with a whole heart, and King David also was exceedingly glad.

David Blesses Yahweh

1Ch 29:10

So David^H1732 blessed^H1288 Yahweh^H3068 in the sight^H5869 of all^H3605 the assembly^H6951; and David^H1732 said^H559, “Blessed^H1288 are You, O Yahweh^H3068, the God^H430 of Israel^H3478 our father^H1, from everlasting^H5769 to everlasting^H5769.

1Ch 29:11

1Ch 29:11“Yours, O Yahweh, is the greatness and the [fn]power and the glory and the [fn]victory and the majesty, indeed everything that is in the heavens and the earth; Yours is the kingdom, O Yahweh, and You exalt Yourself as head over all.

1Ch 29:12

1Ch 29:12“Both riches and honor come from You, and You rule over all, and in Your hand is power and might; and it lies in Your hand to make great and to strengthen everyone.

1Ch 29:13

1Ch 29:13“So now, our God, we are thanking You and praising Your glorious name.

1Ch 29:14

“But who^H4310 am I and who^H4310 are my people^H5971 that we should [fn]be^H6113 able^H6113^H3581 to offer^H5068 as willingly as this^H2088? For all^H3605 things^H3605 come from You, and from Your hand^H3027 we have given^H5414 You.

1Ch 29:15

1Ch 29:15“For we are sojourners before You, and foreign residents, like all our fathers were; our days on the earth are like a shadow, and there is no hope.

1Ch 29:16

1Ch 29:16“O Yahweh our God, all this abundance that we have prepared to build You a house for Your holy name, it is from Your hand, and all is Yours.

1Ch 29:17

1Ch 29:17“And I know, O my God, that You try the heart and delight in uprightness. I, in the uprightness of my heart, have willingly offered all these things. So now with gladness I have seen Your people, who are present here, make their offerings willingly to You.

1Ch 29:18

1Ch 29:18“O Yahweh, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, our fathers, keep this forever in the [fn]intentions of the heart of Your people, and prepare their heart to You;

1Ch 29:19

1Ch 29:19and give to my son Solomon a whole heart to keep Your commandments, Your testimonies and Your statutes, and to do them all, and to build the [fn]temple, for which I have made preparation.”

1Ch 29:20

Then David^H1732 said^H559 to all^H3605 the assembly^H6951, “Now^H4994 bless^H1288 Yahweh^H3068 your God^H430.” And all^H3605 the assembly^H6951 blessed^H1288 Yahweh^H3068, the God^H430 of their fathers^H1, and bowed^H6915 low^H6915 and prostrated^H2331 themselves to Yahweh^H3068 and to the king^H4428.

Sacrifices to Yahweh

1Ch 29:21

1Ch 29:21And on the next day they [fn]made sacrifices to Yahweh and offered burnt offerings to Yahweh, 1,000 bulls, 1,000 rams, and 1,000 lambs, with their drink offerings and sacrifices in abundance for all Israel.

1Ch 29:22

1Ch 29:22So they ate and drank that day before Yahweh with great gladness.

And they made^H4427 Solomon^H8010 the son^H1121 of David^H1732 king^H4427 a second^H8145 time^H8145, and they anointed^H4886 him as ruler^H5057 for Yahweh^H3068 and Zadok^H6659 as priest^H3548.

1Ch 29:23

1Ch 29:23Then Solomon sat on the throne of Yahweh as king instead of David his father; and he succeeded, and all Israel obeyed him.

1Ch 29:24

1Ch 29:24And all the officials, the mighty men, and also all the sons of King David [fn]pledged allegiance to King Solomon.

1Ch 29:25

1Ch 29:25And Yahweh highly exalted Solomon in the sight of all Israel, and granted to him royal majesty which had not been on any king before him in Israel.

1Ch 29:26

Now David^H1732 the son^H1121 of Jesse^H3448 reigned^H4427 over^H5921 all^H3605 Israel^H3478.

1Ch 29:27

1Ch 29:27And the [fn]time which he reigned over Israel was forty years; in Hebron he reigned seven years and [fn]in Jerusalem thirty-three years.

Death of David

1Ch 29:28

1Ch 29:28Then he died in a good old age, full of days, riches and glory; and his son Solomon became king in his place.
