David Strikes Down Nations

(2Sa 8:1–14 )

Now it happened afterwards^H310^H3651, that David^H1732 struck^H5221 the Philistines^H6430 and subdued^H3665 them and took^H3947 Gath^H1661 and its towns^H1323 from the hand^H3027 of the Philistines^H6430.

1Ch 18:2He also struck Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David, bringing tribute.

Then David^H1732 struck^H5221 Hadadezer^H1909 king^H4428 of Zobah^H6678 as far as Hamath^H2574, as he went^H1980 to set^H5324 up his [fn]power^H3027 at the Euphrates^H6578 River^H5104.

1Ch 18:4And David captured from him 1,000 chariots and 7,000 horsemen and 20,000 foot soldiers, and David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but left enough of them for 100 chariots.

Then the Arameans^H758 of [fn]Damascus^H1834 came^H935 to help^H5826 Hadadezer^H1909 king^H4428 of Zobah^H6678. And David^H1732 struck^H5221 down^H5221 22,000^H6242^H8147^H505 men^H376 of the Arameans^H758.

1Ch 18:6Then David placed garrisons among the Arameans of [fn]Damascus; and the Arameans became servants to David, bringing tribute. And Yahweh granted salvation to David wherever he went.

1Ch 18:7

1Ch 18:7And David took the small shields of gold which were [fn]carried by the servants of Hadadezer and brought them to Jerusalem.

1Ch 18:8Also from [fn]Tibhath and from Cun, cities of Hadadezer, David took a very large amount of bronze, with which Solomon made the bronze sea and the pillars and the bronze utensils.

1Ch 18:10so he sent [fn]Hadoram his son to King David to [fn]greet him and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer and struck him down; for Hadadezer had been at war with Tou. And Hadoram brought all kinds of articles of gold and silver and bronze.

1Ch 18:11

1Ch 18:11King David also set these apart as holy to Yahweh with the silver and the gold which he had carried away from all the nations: from Edom, Moab, the sons of Ammon, the Philistines, and from Amalek.

1Ch 18:12

Moreover, Abishai^H52 the son^H1121 of Zeruiah^H6870 [fn]smote^H5221 18,000^H8083^H6240^H505 of Edom^H123 in the Valley^H1516 of Salt^H4417.

1Ch 18:13Then he placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to David. And Yahweh granted salvation to David wherever he went.
