David Takes More Wives

Then Hiram^H2438 king^H4428 of Tyre^H6865 sent^H7971 messengers^H4397 to David^H1732 with cedar^H730 trees^H6086 and craftsmen^H2796 of walls^H7023 and craftsmen^H2796 of wood^H6086, to build^H1129 a house^H1004 for him.

1Ch 14:2Thus David knew that Yahweh had established him as king over Israel, and that his kingdom was lifted up, for the sake of His people Israel.

1Ch 14:3

Then David^H1732 took^H3947 more^H5750 wives^H802 at Jerusalem^H3389, and David^H1732 [fn]became^H3205 the father^H3205 of more^H5750 sons^H1121 and daughters^H1323.

David Strikes Down the Philistines

(2Sa 5:17–25 )

1Ch 14:8

Then the Philistines^H6430 heard^H8085 that David^H1732 had been anointed^H4886 king^H4428 over^H5921 all^H3605 Israel^H3478, so all^H3605 the Philistines^H6430 went^H5927 up^H5927 to seek^H1245 out^H1245 David^H1732. And David^H1732 heard^H8085 of it and went^H3318 out^H3318 against^H6440 them.

1Ch 14:9Now the Philistines had come and made a raid in the valley of Rephaim.

1Ch 14:10Then David asked of God, saying, “Shall I go up against the Philistines? And will You give them into my hand?” And Yahweh said to him, “Go up, for I will give them into your hand.”

1Ch 14:11

1Ch 14:11So they came up to [fn]Baal-perazim, and there David struck them down; and David said, “God has broken through my enemies by my hand, like the breakthrough of waters.” Therefore they named that place [fn]Baal-perazim.

1Ch 14:12And they forsook their gods there; so David said the word, and they were burned with fire.

1Ch 14:14So David again asked of God, and God said to him, “You shall not go directly up after them; circle around from [fn]behind them and come at them in front of the [fn]balsam trees.

1Ch 14:15“And it will be that when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the [fn]balsam trees, then you shall go out to battle, for God will have gone out before you to strike the camp of the Philistines.”
