Genesis 25 :: Hebrew Names Version (HNV)

Gen 25:1Avraham took another wife, and her name was Keturah.
Gen 25:2She bore him Zimran, Yokshan, Medan, Midyan, Yishbak, and Shuach.
Gen 25:3Yokshan became the father of Sheva, and Dedan. The sons of Dedan were Ashshurim, Letushim, and Le'ummim.
Gen 25:4The sons of Midyan: `Efah, `Efer, Hanokh, Avida, and Elda`ah. All these were the children of Keturah.
Gen 25:5Avraham gave all that he had to Yitzchak,
Gen 25:6but to the sons of the concubines who Avraham had, Avraham gave gifts. He sent them away from Yitzchak his son, while he yet lived, eastward, to the east country.
Gen 25:7These are the days of the years of Avraham's life which he lived: one hundred seventy-five years.
Gen 25:8Avraham gave up the spirit, and died in a good old age, an old man, and full of years, and was gathered to his people.
Gen 25:9Yitzchak and Yishma'el, his sons, buried him in the cave of Makhpelah, in the field of `Efron, the son of Tzochar the Hittite, which is before Mamre,
Gen 25:10the field which Avraham purchased of the children of Het. There was Avraham buried, with Sarah his wife.
Gen 25:11It happened after the death of Avraham, that God blessed Yitzchak, his son. Yitzchak lived by Be'er-Lachai-Ro'i.

Descendants of Ishmael

Gen 25:12Now this is the history of the generations of Yishma'el, Avraham's son, whom Hagar the Mitzrian, Sarah's handmaid, bore to Avraham.
Gen 25:13These are the names of the sons of Yishma'el, by their names, according to the order of their birth: the firstborn of Yishma'el, Nevayot, then Kedar, Adbe'el, Mivsam,
Gen 25:14Mishma, Dumah, Massa,
Gen 25:15Hadad, Tema, Yetur, Nafish, and Kedemah.
Gen 25:16These are the sons of Yishma'el, and these are their names, by their villages, and by their encampments: twelve princes, according to their nations.
Gen 25:17These are the years of the life of Yishma'el: one hundred thirty-seven years. He gave up the spirit and died, and was gathered to his people.
Gen 25:18They lived from Havilah to Shur that is before Mitzrayim, as you go toward Ashshur. He lived opposite all his relatives.

Isaac's Sons

Gen 25:19This is the history of the generations of Yitzchak, Avraham's son. Avraham became the father of Yitzchak.
Gen 25:20Yitzchak was forty years old when he took Rivka, the daughter of Betu'el the Arammian of Paddan-Aram, the sister of Lavan the Arammian, to be his wife.
Gen 25:21Yitzchak entreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. The LORD was entreated by him, and Rivka his wife conceived.
Gen 25:22The children struggled together within her. She said, "If it be so, why do I live?" She went to inquire of the LORD.
Gen 25:23The LORD said to her, Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples will be separated from your body. The one people will be stronger than the other people. The elder will serve the younger.
Gen 25:24When her days to be delivered were fulfilled, behold, there were twins in her womb.
Gen 25:25The first came out red all over, like a hairy garment. They named him Esav.
Gen 25:26After that, his brother came out, and his hand had hold on Esav's heel. He was named Ya`akov. Yitzchak was sixty years old when she bore them.
Gen 25:27The boys grew. Esav was a skillful hunter, a man of the field. Ya`akov was a quiet man, living in tents.
Gen 25:28Now Yitzchak loved Esav, because he ate his venison. Rivka loved Ya`akov.
Gen 25:29Ya`akov boiled stew. Esav came in from the field, and he was famished.
Gen 25:30Esav said to Ya`akov, "Please feed me with that same red stew, for I am famished." Therefore his name was called Edom.
Gen 25:31Ya`akov said, "First, sell me your birthright."
Gen 25:32Esav said, "Behold, I am about to die. What good is the birthright to me?"
Gen 25:33Ya`akov said, "Swear to me first." He swore to him. He sold his birthright to Ya`akov.
Gen 25:34Ya`akov gave Esav bread and stew of lentils. He ate and drank, rose up, and went his way. So Esav despised his birthright.
