Psalm 29 :: English Standard Version (ESV)

Ascribe to the Lord Glory

Psa 29:1A Psalm of David.
Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings,[fn]
ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
Psa 29:2Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name;
worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.[fn]
Psa 29:3The voice of the LORD is over the waters;
the God of glory thunders,
the LORD, over many waters.
Psa 29:4The voice of the LORD is powerful;
the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
Psa 29:5The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars;
the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
Psa 29:6He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf,
and Sirion like a young wild ox.
Psa 29:7The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
Psa 29:8The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness;
the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
Psa 29:9The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth[fn]
and strips the forests bare,
and in his temple all cry, “Glory!”
Psa 29:10The LORD sits enthroned over the flood;
the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
Psa 29:11May the LORD give strength to his people!
May the LORD bless[fn] his people with peace!
