Psalm 83 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 83:1{A Song; a Psalm of Asaph.} O God, keep not silence; hold not thy peace, and be not still, O God:
Psa 83:2For behold, thine enemies make a tumult; and they that hate thee lift up the head.
Psa 83:3They take crafty counsel against thy people, and consult against thy hidden ones:
Psa 83:4They say, Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation, and let the name of Israel be mentioned no more.
Psa 83:5For they have consulted together with one heart: they have made an alliance together against thee.
Psa 83:6The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites, Moab and the Hagarites;
Psa 83:7Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia, with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Psa 83:8Asshur also is joined with them: they are an arm to the sons of Lot. Selah.
Psa 83:9Do unto them as to Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the torrent of Kishon:
Psa 83:10Who were destroyed at Endor; they became as dung for the ground.
Psa 83:11Make their nobles as Oreb and as Zeeb; and all their chiefs as Zebah and as Zalmunna.
Psa 83:12For they have said, Let us take to ourselves God's dwelling-places in possession.
Psa 83:13O my God, make them like a whirling thing, like stubble before the wind.
Psa 83:14As fire burneth a forest, and as the flame setteth the mountains on fire,
Psa 83:15So pursue them with thy tempest, and terrify them with thy whirlwind.
Psa 83:16Fill their faces with shame, that they may seek thy name, O Jehovah.
Psa 83:17Let them be put to shame and be dismayed for ever, and let them be confounded and perish:
Psa 83:18That they may know that thou alone, whose name is Jehovah, art the Most High over all the earth.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
