Psalm 60 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 60:1{To the chief Musician. On Shushan. Testimony. Michtam of David; to teach: when he strove with the Syrians of Mesopotamia, and the Syrians of Zobah, and Joab returned, and smote the Edomites in the valley of salt, twelve thousand.} O God, thou hast cast us off, thou hast scattered us, thou hast been displeased: restore us again.
Psa 60:2Thou hast made the earth to tremble, thou hast rent it: heal the breaches thereof; for it shaketh.
Psa 60:3Thou hast shewn thy people hard things; thou hast made us to drink the wine of bewilderment.
Psa 60:4Thou hast given a banner to them that fear thee, that it may be displayed because of the truth, (Selah,)
Psa 60:5That thy beloved ones may be delivered. Save with thy right hand, and answer me.
Psa 60:6God hath spoken in his holiness: I will exult, I will divide Shechem, and mete out the valley of Succoth.
Psa 60:7Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine, and Ephraim is the strength of my head; Judah is my law-giver;
Psa 60:8Moab is my wash-pot; upon Edom will I cast my sandal; Philistia, shout aloud because of me.
Psa 60:9Who will bring me into the strong city? who will lead me unto Edom?
Psa 60:10Wilt not thou, O God, who didst cast us off? and didst not go forth, O God, with our armies?
Psa 60:11Give us help from trouble; for vain is man's deliverance.
Psa 60:12Through God we shall do valiantly; and he it is that will tread down our adversaries.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
