Psalm 54 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 54:1

Psa 54:1{To the chief Musician. On stringed instruments: an instruction. Of David; when the Ziphites came, and said to Saul, Is not David hiding himself with us?} O God, by thy name save me, and by thy strength do me justice.

Psa 54:2

Psa 54:2O God, hear my prayer; give ear to the words of my mouth.

Psa 54:3

Psa 54:3For strangers are risen up against me, and the violent seek after my life: they have not set God before them. Selah.

Psa 54:4

Psa 54:4Behold, God is my helper; the Lord is among them that uphold my soul.

Psa 54:5

Psa 54:5He will requite evil to mine enemies: in thy truth cut them off.

Psa 54:6

Psa 54:6I will freely sacrifice unto thee; I will praise thy name, O Jehovah, because it is good.

Psa 54:7

Psa 54:7For he hath delivered me out of all trouble; and mine eye hath seen its desire upon mine enemies.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
