Psalm 52 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 52:1{To the chief Musician: an instruction. Of David; when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said unto him, David came to the house of Ahimelech.} Why boastest thou thyself in evil, thou mighty man? The loving-kindness of God abideth continually.
Psa 52:2Thy tongue deviseth mischievous things, like a sharp razor, practising deceit.
Psa 52:3Thou hast loved evil rather than good, lying rather than to speak righteousness. Selah.
Psa 52:4Thou hast loved all devouring words, O deceitful tongue!
Psa 52:5God shall likewise destroy thee for ever; he shall take thee away, and pluck thee out of thy tent, and root thee out of the land of the living. Selah.
Psa 52:6The righteous also shall see, and fear, and shall laugh at him, saying,
Psa 52:7Behold the man that made not God his strength, but put confidence in the abundance of his riches, and strengthened himself in his avarice.
Psa 52:8But as for me, I am like a green olive-tree in the house of God: I will confide in the loving-kindness of God for ever and ever.
Psa 52:9I will praise thee for ever, because thou hast done it; and I will wait on thy name, before thy godly ones, for it is good.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
