Psalm 48 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 48:1{A Song; a Psalm. Of the sons of Korah.} Great is Jehovah, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the hill of his holiness.
Psa 48:2Beautiful in elevation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.
Psa 48:3God is known in her palaces as a high fortress.
Psa 48:4For behold, the kings assembled themselves, they passed by together;
Psa 48:5They saw, -- so they marvelled; they were troubled, they fled in consternation:
Psa 48:6Trembling took hold upon them there; anguish, as of a woman in travail.
Psa 48:7With an east wind thou hast broken the ships of Tarshish.
Psa 48:8As we have heard, so have we seen, in the city of Jehovah of hosts, in the city of our God: God doth establish it for ever. Selah.
Psa 48:9We have thought, O God, of thy loving-kindness, in the midst of thy temple.
Psa 48:10According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.
Psa 48:11Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.
Psa 48:12Walk about Zion, and go round about her: count the towers thereof;
Psa 48:13Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces: that ye may tell it to the generation following.
Psa 48:14For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide until death.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
