Psalm 33 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 33:1Exult, ye righteous, in Jehovah: praise is comely for the upright.
Psa 33:2Give thanks unto Jehovah with the harp; sing psalms unto him with the ten-stringed lute.
Psa 33:3Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud sound.
Psa 33:4For the word of Jehovah is right, and all his work is in faithfulness.
Psa 33:5He loveth righteousness and judgment: the earth is full of the loving-kindness of Jehovah.
Psa 33:6By the word of Jehovah were the heavens made, and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.
Psa 33:7He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; he layeth up the deeps in storehouses.
Psa 33:8Let all the earth fear Jehovah; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him.
Psa 33:9For *he* spoke, and it was done; *he* commanded, and it stood fast.
Psa 33:10Jehovah frustrateth the counsel of the nations; he maketh the thoughts of the peoples of none effect.
Psa 33:11The counsel of Jehovah standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart from generation to generation.
Psa 33:12Blessed is the nation whose God is Jehovah, the people that he hath chosen for his inheritance!
Psa 33:13Jehovah looketh from the heavens; he beholdeth all the sons of men:
Psa 33:14From the place of his habitation he looketh forth upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
Psa 33:15He who fashioneth the hearts of them all, who considereth all their works.
Psa 33:16The king is not saved by the multitude of his forces; a mighty man is not delivered by much strength.
Psa 33:17The horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth he deliver by his great power.
Psa 33:18Behold, the eye of Jehovah is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his loving-kindness,
Psa 33:19To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Psa 33:20Our soul waiteth for Jehovah: he is our help and our shield.
Psa 33:21For in him shall our heart rejoice, because we have confided in his holy name.
Psa 33:22Let thy loving-kindness, O Jehovah, be upon us, according as we have hoped in thee.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
