Psalm 27 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 27:1

Psa 27:1{A Psalm of David.} Jehovah is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? Jehovah is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Psa 27:2

Psa 27:2When evil-doers, mine adversaries and mine enemies, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Psa 27:3

Psa 27:3If a host encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; if war rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Psa 27:4

Psa 27:4One thing have I asked of Jehovah, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of Jehovah all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of Jehovah, and to inquire of him in his temple.

Psa 27:5

Psa 27:5For in the day of evil he will hide me in his pavilion; in the secret of his tent will he keep me concealed: he will set me high upon a rock.

Psa 27:6

Psa 27:6And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; and I will offer in his tent sacrifices of shouts of joy: I will sing, yea, I will sing psalms unto Jehovah.

Psa 27:7

Psa 27:7Hear, Jehovah; with my voice do I call; be gracious unto me, and answer me.

Psa 27:8

Psa 27:8My heart said for thee, Seek ye my face. Thy face, O Jehovah, will I seek.

Psa 27:9

Psa 27:9Hide not thy face from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Psa 27:10

Psa 27:10For had my father and my mother forsaken me, then had Jehovah taken me up.

Psa 27:11

Psa 27:11Teach me thy way, Jehovah, and lead me in an even path, because of mine enemies.

Psa 27:12

Psa 27:12Deliver me not over to the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence.

Psa 27:13

Psa 27:13Unless I had believed to see the goodness of Jehovah in the land of the living ...!

Psa 27:14

Psa 27:14Wait for Jehovah; be strong and let thy heart take courage: yea, wait for Jehovah.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations.
