Psalm 17 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 17:1

Psa 17:1{A Prayer of David.} Hear the right, O Jehovah, attend unto my cry; give ear unto my prayer, which is not out of feigned lips.

Psa 17:2

Psa 17:2Let my judgment come forth from thy presence, let thine eyes regard equity.

Psa 17:3

Psa 17:3Thou hast proved my heart, thou hast visited me by night; thou hast tried me, thou hast found nothing: my thought goeth not beyond my word.

Psa 17:4

Psa 17:4Concerning the works of men, by the word of thy lips I have kept from the paths of the violent man.

Psa 17:5

Psa 17:5When thou holdest my goings in thy paths, my footsteps slip not.

Psa 17:6

Psa 17:6I have called upon thee, for thou answerest me, O God. Incline thine ear unto me, hear my speech.

Psa 17:7

Psa 17:7Shew wondrously thy loving-kindnesses, O thou that savest by thy right hand them that trust in thee from those that rise up against them.

Psa 17:8

Psa 17:8Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,

Psa 17:9

Psa 17:9From the wicked that destroy me, my deadly enemies, who compass me about.

Psa 17:10

Psa 17:10They are enclosed in their own fat; with their mouth they speak proudly.

Psa 17:11

Psa 17:11They have now encompassed us in our steps; their eyes have they set, bowing down to the earth.

Psa 17:12

Psa 17:12He is like a lion that is greedy of its prey, and as a young lion lurking in secret places.

Psa 17:13

Psa 17:13Arise, Jehovah, anticipate him, cast him down: deliver my soul from the wicked, thy sword;

Psa 17:14

Psa 17:14From men who are thy hand, O Jehovah, from men of this age: their portion is in this life, and their belly thou fillest with thy hid treasure; they have their fill of sons, and leave the rest of their substance to their children.

Psa 17:15

Psa 17:15As for me, I will behold thy face in righteousness; I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
