Psalm 149 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 149:1Hallelujah! Sing unto Jehovah a new song; sing his praise in the congregation of the godly.
Psa 149:2Let Israel rejoice in his Maker; let the sons of Zion be joyful in their King.
Psa 149:3Let them praise his name in the dance; let them sing psalms unto him with the tambour and harp.
Psa 149:4For Jehovah taketh pleasure in his people; he beautifieth the meek with salvation.
Psa 149:5Let the godly exult in glory; let them shout for joy upon their beds.
Psa 149:6Let the high praises of God be in their mouth, and a two-edged sword in their hand:
Psa 149:7To execute vengeance against the nations, and punishment among the peoples;
Psa 149:8To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;
Psa 149:9To execute upon them the judgment written. This honour have all his saints. Hallelujah!

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
