Psalm 144 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 144:1

Psa 144:1{A Psalm of David.} Blessed be Jehovah my rock, who teacheth my hands to war, my fingers to fight;

Psa 144:2

Psa 144:2My mercy and my fortress, my high tower and my deliverer, my shield and he in whom I trust, who subdueth my people under me!

Psa 144:3

Psa 144:3Jehovah, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him, the son of man, that thou takest thought of him?

Psa 144:4

Psa 144:4Man is like to vanity; his days are as a shadow that passeth away.

Psa 144:5

Psa 144:5Jehovah, bow thy heavens, and come down; touch the mountains, that they smoke;

Psa 144:6

Psa 144:6Cast forth lightnings, and scatter them; send forth thine arrows, and discomfit them:

Psa 144:7

Psa 144:7Stretch out thy hands from above; rescue me, and deliver me out of great waters, from the hand of aliens,

Psa 144:8

Psa 144:8Whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

Psa 144:9

Psa 144:9O God, I will sing a new song unto thee; with the ten-stringed lute will I sing psalms unto thee:

Psa 144:10

Psa 144:10Who givest salvation unto kings; who rescuest David thy servant from the hurtful sword.

Psa 144:11

Psa 144:11Rescue me, and deliver me from the hand of aliens, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood.

Psa 144:12

Psa 144:12That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; our daughters as corner-columns, sculptured after the fashion of a palace:

Psa 144:13

Psa 144:13Our granaries full, affording all manner of store; our sheep bringing forth thousands, ten thousands in our pastures;

Psa 144:14

Psa 144:14Our kine laden with young; no breaking in and no going forth, and no outcry in our streets.

Psa 144:15

Psa 144:15Blessed the people that is in such a case! Blessed the people whose God is Jehovah!

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations.
