Psalm 135 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 135:1Hallelujah! Praise the name of Jehovah; praise, ye servants of Jehovah,
Psa 135:2Ye that stand in the house of Jehovah, in the courts of the house of our God.
Psa 135:3Praise ye Jah; for Jehovah is good: sing psalms unto his name; for it is pleasant.
Psa 135:4For Jah hath chosen Jacob unto himself, Israel for his own possession.
Psa 135:5For *I* know that Jehovah is great, and our Lord is above all gods.
Psa 135:6Whatsoever Jehovah pleased, he hath done in the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all deeps;
Psa 135:7Who causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; who maketh lightnings for the rain; who bringeth the wind out of his treasuries:
Psa 135:8Who smote the firstborn of Egypt, both of man and beast;
Psa 135:9Who sent signs and miracles into the midst of thee, O Egypt, upon Pharaoh and upon all his servants;
Psa 135:10Who smote great nations, and slew mighty kings,
Psa 135:11Sihon king of the Amorites, and Og king of Bashan, and all the kingdoms of Canaan;
Psa 135:12And gave their land for an inheritance, an inheritance unto Israel his people.
Psa 135:13Thy name, O Jehovah, is for ever; thy memorial, O Jehovah, from generation to generation.
Psa 135:14For Jehovah will judge his people, and will repent in favour of his servants.
Psa 135:15The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men's hands:
Psa 135:16They have a mouth, and they speak not; eyes have they, and they see not;
Psa 135:17They have ears, and they hear not; neither is there any breath in their mouth.
Psa 135:18They that make them are like unto them, -- every one that confideth in them.
Psa 135:19House of Israel, bless ye Jehovah; house of Aaron, bless ye Jehovah;
Psa 135:20House of Levi, bless ye Jehovah; ye that fear Jehovah, bless Jehovah.
Psa 135:21Blessed be Jehovah out of Zion, who dwelleth at Jerusalem! Hallelujah!

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
