Psalm 124 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 124:1{A Song of degrees. Of David.} If it had not been Jehovah who was for us -- oh let Israel say --
Psa 124:2If it had not been Jehovah who was for us, when men rose up against us,
Psa 124:3Then they had swallowed us up alive, when their anger was kindled against us;
Psa 124:4Then the waters had overwhelmed us, a torrent had gone over our soul;
Psa 124:5Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
Psa 124:6Blessed be Jehovah, who gave us not up a prey to their teeth!
Psa 124:7Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we have escaped.
Psa 124:8Our help is in the name of Jehovah, the maker of heavens and earth.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
