Psalm 116 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 116:1I love Jehovah, for he hath heard my voice and my supplications;
Psa 116:2For he hath inclined his ear unto me, and I will call upon him during all my days.
Psa 116:3The bands of death encompassed me, and the anguish of Sheol took hold of me; I found trouble and sorrow:
Psa 116:4Then called I upon the name of Jehovah: I beseech thee, Jehovah, deliver my soul.
Psa 116:5Gracious is Jehovah and righteous; and our God is merciful.
Psa 116:6Jehovah keepeth the simple: I was brought low, and he saved me.
Psa 116:7Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for Jehovah hath dealt bountifully with thee.
Psa 116:8For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, my feet from falling.
Psa 116:9I will walk before Jehovah in the land of the living.
Psa 116:10I believed, therefore have I spoken. As for me, I was greatly afflicted.
Psa 116:11I said in my haste, All men are liars.
Psa 116:12What shall I render unto Jehovah, for all his benefits toward me?
Psa 116:13I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of Jehovah.
Psa 116:14I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people.
Psa 116:15Precious in the sight of Jehovah is the death of his saints.
Psa 116:16Yea, Jehovah! for I am thy servant; I am thy servant, the son of thy handmaid: thou hast loosed my bonds.
Psa 116:17I will offer to thee the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and will call upon the name of Jehovah.
Psa 116:18I will perform my vows unto Jehovah, yea, before all his people,
Psa 116:19In the courts of Jehovah's house, in the midst of thee, O Jerusalem. Hallelujah!

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
