Psalm 107 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Psa 107:1Give ye thanks unto Jehovah; for he is good; for his loving-kindness endureth for ever.
Psa 107:2Let the redeemed of Jehovah say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the oppressor,
Psa 107:3And gathered out of the countries, from the east and from the west, from the north and from the sea.
Psa 107:4They wandered in the wilderness in a desert way, they found no city of habitation;
Psa 107:5Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them:
Psa 107:6Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses,
Psa 107:7And he led them forth by a right way, that they might go to a city of habitation.
Psa 107:8Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;
Psa 107:9For he hath satisfied the longing soul and filled the hungry soul with good.
Psa 107:10Such as inhabit darkness and the shadow of death, bound in affliction and iron,
Psa 107:11Because they had rebelled against the words of God, and had despised the counsel of the Most High; ...
Psa 107:12And he bowed down their heart with labour; they stumbled, and there was none to help:
Psa 107:13Then they cried unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses;
Psa 107:14He brought them out of darkness and the shadow of death, and broke their bands in sunder.
Psa 107:15Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;
Psa 107:16For he hath broken the gates of bronze, and cut asunder the bars of iron.
Psa 107:17Fools, because of their way of transgression, and because of their iniquities, are afflicted;
Psa 107:18Their soul abhorreth all manner of food, and they draw near unto the gates of death:
Psa 107:19Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he saveth them out of their distresses;
Psa 107:20He sendeth his word, and healeth them, and delivereth them from their destructions.
Psa 107:21Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men,
Psa 107:22And let them offer the sacrifices of thanksgiving, and declare his works in joyful song.
Psa 107:23They that go down to the sea in ships, that do business in great waters,
Psa 107:24These see the works of Jehovah, and his wonders in the deep.
Psa 107:25For he speaketh, and raiseth the stormy wind, which lifteth up the waves thereof:
Psa 107:26They mount up to the heavens, they go down to the depths; their soul is melted because of trouble;
Psa 107:27They reel to and fro, and stagger like a drunken man, and they are at their wits' end:
Psa 107:28Then they cry unto Jehovah in their trouble, and he bringeth them out of their distresses;
Psa 107:29He maketh the storm a calm, and the waves thereof are still:
Psa 107:30And they rejoice because they are quiet; and he bringeth them unto their desired haven.
Psa 107:31Let them give thanks unto Jehovah for his loving-kindness, and for his wondrous works to the children of men;
Psa 107:32Let them exalt him also in the congregation of the people, and praise him in the session of the elders.
Psa 107:33He maketh rivers into a wilderness, and water-springs into dry ground;
Psa 107:34A fruitful land into a plain of salt, for the wickedness of them that dwell therein.
Psa 107:35He maketh the wilderness into a pool of water, and the dry land into water-springs;
Psa 107:36And there he maketh the hungry to dwell, and they establish a city of habitation;
Psa 107:37And sow fields, and plant vineyards, which yield fruits of increase;
Psa 107:38And he blesseth them, so that they are multiplied greatly; and he suffereth not their cattle to decrease.
Psa 107:39And they are diminished and brought low, through oppression, adversity, and sorrow:
Psa 107:40He poureth contempt upon nobles, and causeth them to wander in a pathless waste;
Psa 107:41But he secureth the needy one on high from affliction, and maketh him families like flocks.
Psa 107:42The upright shall see it, and rejoice; and all unrighteousness shall stop its mouth.
Psa 107:43Whoso is wise, let him observe these things, and let them understand the loving-kindnesses of Jehovah.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
