Proverbs 11 :: Darby Translation (DBY)

Pro 11:1A false balance is an abomination to Jehovah; but a just weight is his delight.
Pro 11:2When pride cometh, then cometh shame; but with the lowly is wisdom.
Pro 11:3The integrity of the upright guideth them; but the crookedness of the unfaithful destroyeth them.
Pro 11:4Wealth profiteth not in the day of wrath; but righteousness delivereth from death.
Pro 11:5The righteousness of the perfect maketh plain his way; but the wicked falleth by his own wickedness.
Pro 11:6The righteousness of the upright delivereth them; but the treacherous are taken in their own craving.
Pro 11:7When a wicked man dieth, his expectation shall perish; and the hope of evil men perisheth.
Pro 11:8The righteous is delivered out of trouble, and the wicked cometh in his stead.
Pro 11:9With his mouth a hypocrite destroyeth his neighbour; but through knowledge are the righteous delivered.
Pro 11:10When it goeth well with the righteous, the city rejoiceth; and when the wicked perish, there is shouting.
Pro 11:11By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted; but it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.
Pro 11:12He that despiseth his neighbour is void of heart; but a man of understanding holdeth his peace.
Pro 11:13He that goeth about talebearing revealeth secrets; but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.
Pro 11:14Where no advice is, the people fall; but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.
Pro 11:15It goeth ill with him that is surety for another; but he that hateth suretyship is secure.
Pro 11:16A gracious woman retaineth honour; and the violent retain riches.
Pro 11:17The merciful man doeth good to his own soul; but the cruel troubleth his own flesh.
Pro 11:18The wicked worketh a deceitful work; but he that soweth righteousness hath a sure reward.
Pro 11:19As righteousness tendeth to life, so he that pursueth evil doeth it to his own death.
Pro 11:20The perverse in heart are abomination to Jehovah; but they that are perfect in their way are his delight.
Pro 11:21Hand for hand! an evil man shall not be held innocent; but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.
Pro 11:22A fair woman who is without discretion, is as a gold ring in a swine's snout.
Pro 11:23The desire of the righteous is only good; the expectation of the wicked is wrath.
Pro 11:24There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth; and there is that withholdeth more than is right, but it tendeth only to want.
Pro 11:25The liberal soul shall be made fat, and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.
Pro 11:26He that withholdeth corn, the people curse him; but blessing shall be upon the head of him that selleth it.
Pro 11:27He that is earnest after good seeketh favour; but he that searcheth for mischief, it shall come upon him.
Pro 11:28He that trusteth in his riches shall fall; but the righteous shall flourish as a leaf.
Pro 11:29He that troubleth his own house shall inherit wind; and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart.
Pro 11:30The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life; and the wise winneth souls.
Pro 11:31Behold, the righteous shall be requited on the earth: how much more the wicked and the sinner.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
