Conception and Birth of Jesus

Mat 1:18Now the birth of Jesus Christ was thus: His mother, Mary, that is, having been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child of the Holy Spirit.
Mat 1:19But Joseph, her husband, being a righteous man, and unwilling to expose her publicly, purposed to have put her away secretly;
Mat 1:20but while he pondered on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph, son of David, fear not to take to thee Mary, thy wife, for that which is begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit.
Mat 1:21And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus, for *he* shall save his people from their sins.
Mat 1:22Now all this came to pass that that might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord, through the prophet, saying,
Mat 1:23Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which is, being interpreted, 'God with us.'
Mat 1:24But Joseph, having awoke up from his sleep, did as the angel of the Lord had enjoined him, and took to him his wife,
Mat 1:25and knew her not until she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

In 1867, John Nelson Darby translated the New Testament from Greek into English. Further revisions were done in 1872 and 1884. Darby’s work was first published as The Holy Scriptures: A New Translation from the Original Languages by J. N. Darby. After Darby’s death in 1882, some of his students worked together to produce the complete Darby Bible based on the Masoretic Hebrew text, Darby’s German (Elberfelder), and the French (Pau) translations. In 1890, the first complete Darby Bible was published in English. This translation of the Bible is in the public domain.
