Introduction

This is an audio/visual presentation of the events surrounding the death and resurrection of Christ using sound and images to relate those events so crucial to Christian life and belief.

Matthew 26:14-16 NLT

Then Judas Iscariot, one of the twelve disciples, went to the leading priests and asked, "How much will you pay me to betray Jesus to you?" And they gave him thirty pieces of silver. From that time on, Judas began looking for the right time and place to betray Jesus.

John 13:4-5 NLT

So he [Christ] got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet and to wipe them with the towel he had around him.

Mark 14:18 NLT

As they were sitting around the table eating, Jesus said, "The truth is, one of you will betray me, one of you who is here eating with me."

Luke 22:41-42 NLT

He [Jesus] walked away, about a stone’s throw, and knelt down and prayed, "Father, if you are willing, please take this cup of suffering away from me. Yet I want your will, not mine."

Luke 22:45-46 NLT

At last he [Jesus] stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. "Why are you sleeping?" he asked. "Get up and pray. Otherwise temptation will overpower you."

Luke 22:47-48 NLT

But even as he [Jesus] said this, a mob approached, led by Judas, one of his twelve disciples. Judas walked over to Jesus and greeted him with a kiss. But Jesus said, "Judas, how can you betray me, the Son of Man, with a kiss?"

John 18:6 NLT

And as he [Jesus] said, "I am he," they all fell backward to the ground!

Matthew 26:57 NLT

Then the people who had arrested Jesus led him to the home of Caiaphas, the high priest, where the teachers of religious law and other leaders had gathered.

Mark 14:65 NLT

Then some of them began to spit at him, and they blindfolded him and hit his face with their fists. "Who hit you that time, you prophet?" they jeered. And even the guards were hitting him as they led him away.

Matthew 26:69-70 NLT

Meanwhile, as Peter was sitting outside in the courtyard, a servant girl came over and said to him, "You were one of those with Jesus the Galilean." But Peter denied it in front of everyone. "I don’t know what you are talking about," he said.

Mark 14:72 NLT

And immediately the rooster crowed the second time. Suddenly, Jesus’ words flashed through Peter’s mind: "Before the rooster crows twice, you will deny me three times." And he broke down and cried.

Matthew 27:3-5 NLT

When Judas, who had betrayed him, realized that Jesus had been condemned to die, he was filled with remorse. So he took the thirty pieces of silver back to the leading priests and other leaders. "I have sinned," he declared, "for I have betrayed an innocent man." "What do we care?" they retorted. "That’s your problem." Then Judas threw the money onto the floor of the Temple and went out and hanged himself.

Mark 15:1 NLT

Very early in the morning the leading priests, other leaders, and teachers of religious law--the entire high council--met to discuss their next step. They bound Jesus and took him to Pilate, the Roman governor.

Luke 23:11 NLT

Now Herod and his soldiers began mocking and ridiculing Jesus. Then they put a royal robe on him and sent him back to Pilate.

Matthew 27:24 NLT

Pilate saw that he wasn’t getting anywhere and that a riot was developing. So he sent for a bowl of water and washed his hands before the crowd, saying, "I am innocent of the blood of this man. The responsibility is yours!"

Mark 15:15 NLT

So Pilate, anxious to please the crowd, released Barabbas to them. He ordered Jesus flogged with a lead-tipped whip, then turned him over to the Roman soldiers to crucify him.

Mark 15:17-20 NLT

They dressed him [Jesus] in a purple robe and made a crown of long, sharp thorns and put it on his head. Then they saluted, yelling, "Hail! King of the Jews!" And they beat him on the head with a stick, spit on him, and dropped to their knees in mock worship. When they were finally tired of mocking him, they took off the purple robe and put his own clothes on him again. Then they led him away to be crucified.

John 19:2 NLT

The soldiers made a crown of long, sharp thorns and put it on his head, and they put a royal purple robe on him.

Luke 23:20-21 NLT

Pilate argued with them, because he wanted to release Jesus. But they shouted, "Crucify him! Crucify him!"

Luke 23:26 NLT

As they led Jesus away, Simon of Cyrene, who was coming in from the country just then, was forced to follow Jesus and carry his cross.

Luke 23:33 NLT

Finally, they came to a place called The Skull. All three were crucified there--Jesus on the center cross, and the two criminals on either side.

Luke 23:38 NLT

A signboard was nailed to the cross above him with these words: "This is the King of the Jews."

John 19:18 NLT

There they crucified him. There were two others crucified with him, one on either side, with Jesus between them.

Mark 15:37-38 NLT

Then Jesus uttered another loud cry and breathed his last. And the curtain in the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom.

Matthew 27:59-60 NLT

Joseph took the body and wrapped it in a long linen cloth. He placed it in his own new tomb, which had been carved out of the rock. Then he rolled a great stone across the entrance as he left.

John 19:40 NLT

Together they wrapped Jesus’ body in a long linen cloth with the spices, as is the Jewish custom of burial.

Matthew 28:4 NLT

The guards shook with fear when they saw him, and they fell into a dead faint.

Matthew 28:5 NLT

Then the angel spoke to the women. "Don’t be afraid!" he said. "I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified.

John 20:15-17 NLT

..."Who are you looking for?" She thought he was the gardener. "Sir," she said, "if you have taken him away, tell me where you have put him, and I will go and get him." "Mary!" Jesus said. She turned toward him and exclaimed, "Teacher!" "Don’t cling to me," Jesus said, "for I haven’t yet ascended to the Father. But go find my brothers and tell them that I am ascending to my Father and your Father, my God and your God."

Mark 16:12 NLT

Afterward he [Jesus] appeared to two who were walking from Jerusalem into the country, but they didn’t recognize him at first because he had changed his appearance.

Luke 24:30-31 NLT

As they sat down to eat, he took a small loaf of bread, asked God’s blessing on it, broke it, then gave it to them. Suddenly, their eyes were opened, and they recognized him. And at that moment he disappeared!

John 20:27-28 NLT

Then he [Jesus] said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and see my hands. Put your hand into the wound in my side. Don’t be faithless any longer. Believe!" "My Lord and my God!" Thomas exclaimed.

Acts 1:6-11 NLT

...He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, "Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven."
