PSALM 37

Security of Those Who Trust in the LORD, and Insecurity of the Wicked.

A Psalm of David.

1 Do not get ^H2734 upset ^H2734 because of evildoers ^H7489,

Do not be ^H7065 envious ^H7065 of wrongdoers ^H5766.

2 For they will wither ^H4448 quickly ^H4120 like the grass ^H2682,

And decay ^H5034 like the green ^H3418 plants ^H1877.

3 Trust ^H982 in the LORD ^H3068 and do ^H6213 good ^H2896;

Live ^H7931 in ^H7931 the land ^H776 and [fn]cultivate ^H7462 faithfulness ^H530.

4 Delight ^H6026 yourself in the LORD ^H3068;

And He will give ^H5414 you the desires ^H4862 of your heart ^H3820.

5 Commit ^H1556 your way ^H1870 to the LORD ^H3068,

Trust ^H982 also in Him, and He will do ^H6213 it.

6 He will bring ^H3318 out ^H3318 your righteousness ^H6664 as the light ^H216,

And your judgment ^H4941 as the noonday ^H6672.

7 [fn]Rest ^H1826 in the LORD ^H3068 and wait ^H2342 [fn]patiently ^H2342 for Him;

Do not get ^H2734 upset ^H2734 because of one who is ^H6743 successful ^H6743 in his way ^H1870,

Because of the person ^H376 who carries ^H6213 out ^H6213 wicked ^H4209 schemes ^H4209.

8 Cease ^H7503 from anger ^H639 and abandon ^H5800 wrath ^H2534;

Do not get ^H2734 upset ^H2734; it leads only ^H389 to evildoing ^H7489.

9 For evildoers ^H7489 will be eliminated ^H3772,

But those who wait ^H6960 for the LORD ^H3068, they will inherit ^H3423 the land ^H776.

10 Yet ^H5750 a little ^H4592 while ^H4592 and the wicked ^H7563 person ^H7563 will be no ^H369 more ^H369;

And you will look ^H995 carefully ^H995 for his place ^H4725 and he will not be there.

11 But the humble ^H6035 will inherit ^H3423 the land ^H776

And will delight ^H6026 themselves in abundant ^H7230 prosperity ^H7965.

12 The wicked ^H7563 plots ^H2161 against the righteous ^H6662,

And gnashes ^H2786 at him with his teeth ^H8127.

13 The Lord ^H136 laughs ^H7832 at him,

For He sees ^H7200 that his day ^H3117 is coming ^H935.

14 The wicked ^H7563 have drawn ^H6605 the sword ^H2719 and bent ^H1869 their bow ^H7198

To take ^H5307 down ^H5307 the afflicted ^H6041 and the needy ^H34,

To kill ^H2873 off ^H2873 those who are upright ^H3477 in conduct ^H1870.

15 Their sword ^H2719 will enter ^H935 their own heart ^H3820,

And their bows ^H7198 will be broken ^H7665.

16 Better ^H2896 is the little ^H4592 of the righteous ^H6662

Than ^H4480 the abundance ^H1995 of many ^H7227 wicked ^H7563.

17 For the arms ^H2220 of the wicked ^H7563 will be broken ^H7665,

But the LORD ^H3068 sustains ^H5564 the righteous ^H6662.

18 The LORD ^H3068 knows ^H3045 the days ^H3117 of the [fn]blameless ^H8549,

And their inheritance ^H5159 will be forever ^H5769.

19 They will not be ^H954 ashamed ^H954 in the time ^H6256 of evil ^H7451,

And in the days ^H3117 of famine ^H7459 they will have ^H7646 plenty ^H7646.

20 But the wicked ^H7563 will perish ^H6;

And the enemies ^H340 of the LORD ^H3068 will be like the [fn]glory ^H3368 of the pastures ^H3733,

They vanish ^H3615—like smoke ^H6227 they vanish ^H3615 away.

21 The wicked ^H7563 borrows ^H3867 and does not pay ^H7999 back ^H7999,

But the righteous ^H6662 is gracious ^H2603 and gives ^H5414.

22 For those blessed ^H1288 by Him will inherit ^H3423 the land ^H776,

But those cursed ^H7043 by Him will be eliminated ^H3772.

23 The steps ^H4703 of a man ^H1397 are established ^H3559 by the LORD ^H3068,

And He delights ^H2654 in his way ^H1870.

24 When ^H3588 he falls ^H5307, he will not be hurled ^H2904 down ^H2904,

Because ^H3588 the LORD ^H3068 is the One [fn]who holds ^H5564 his hand ^H3027.

25 I have been ^H1961 young ^H5288 and now ^H1571 I am ^H2204 old ^H2204,

Yet I have not seen ^H7200 the righteous ^H6662 forsaken ^H5800

Or his [fn]descendants ^H2233 begging ^H1245 for bread ^H3899.

26 All ^H3605 day ^H3117 long he is gracious ^H2603 and lends ^H3867,

And his [fn]descendants ^H2233 are a blessing ^H1293.

27 Turn ^H5493 from evil ^H7451 and do ^H6213 good ^H2896,

So that you will dwell ^H7931 forever ^H5769.

28 For the LORD ^H3068 loves ^H157 [fn]justice ^H4941

And does not abandon ^H5800 His godly ^H2623 ones ^H2623;

They are protected ^H8104 forever ^H5769,

But the [fn]descendants ^H2233 of the wicked ^H7563 will be eliminated ^H3772.

29 The righteous ^H6662 will inherit ^H3423 the land ^H776

And dwell ^H7931 in it forever ^H5703.

30 The mouth ^H6310 of the righteous ^H6662 utters ^H1897 wisdom ^H2451,

And his tongue ^H3956 speaks ^H1696 justice ^H4941.

31 The Law ^H8451 of his God ^H430 is in his heart ^H3820;

His steps ^H838 do not slip ^H4571.

32 The wicked ^H7563 spies ^H6822 upon the righteous ^H6662

And seeks ^H1245 to kill ^H4191 him.

33 The LORD ^H3068 will not leave ^H5800 him in his hand ^H3027

Or let him be condemned ^H7561 when he is judged ^H8199.

34 Wait ^H6960 for the LORD ^H3068 and keep ^H8104 His way ^H1870,

And He will exalt ^H7311 you to inherit ^H3423 the land ^H776;

When the wicked ^H7563 are eliminated ^H3772, you will see ^H7200 it.

35 I have seen ^H7200 a wicked ^H7563, violent ^H6184 person ^H7563

Spreading ^H6168 himself like a luxuriant ^H7488 [fn]tree ^H249 in its native ^H249 soil.

36 Then he passed ^H5674 away ^H5674, and behold ^H2009, he was no ^H369 more ^H369;

I searched ^H1245 for him, but he could not be found ^H4672.

37 Observe ^H8104 the [fn]blameless ^H8535 person ^H8535, and look ^H7200 at the upright ^H3477;

For the person ^H376 of peace ^H7965 will have a future ^H319.

38 But wrongdoers ^H6586 will altogether ^H3162 be destroyed ^H8045;

The future ^H319 of the wicked ^H7563 will be eliminated ^H3772.

39 But the salvation ^H8668 of the righteous ^H6662 is from the LORD ^H3068;

He is their strength ^H4581 in time ^H6256 of trouble ^H6869.

40 The LORD ^H3068 helps ^H5826 them and rescues ^H6403 them;

He rescues ^H6403 them from the wicked ^H7563 and saves ^H3467 them,

Because ^H3588 they take ^H2620 refuge ^H2620 in Him.
