PSALM 17
Prayer for Protection against Oppressors.
A Prayer of David.
1 Hear H8085 a just H6664 cause H6664, LORD H3068, give H7181 Your attention H7181 to my cry H7440;
Listen H238 to my prayer H8605, which is not from deceitful H4820 lips H8193.
2 Let my [fn]judgment H4941 come H3318 forth H3318 from Your presence H6440;
Let Your eyes H5869 look H2372 with integrity H4339.
3 You have put H974 my heart H3820 to H974 the H974 test H974;
You have visited H6485 me by night H3915;
You have sifted H6884 me and You find H4672 [fn]nothing H1077;
My intent H2161 is H2161 that my mouth H6310 will not offend H5674.
4 As for the works H6468 of mankind H120, by the word H1697 of Your lips H8193
I have kept H8104 from the ways H734 of the violent H6530.
5 My steps H838 have held H8551 to Your [fn]paths H4570.
My feet H6471 have not slipped H4131.
6 I have called H7121 upon You, for You will answer H6030 me, God H410;
Incline H5186 Your ear H241 to me, hear H8085 my speech H565.
7 Show H6381 Your wonderful H6381 faithfulness H2617,
Savior H3467 of those who take H2620 refuge H2620 [fn]at Your right H3225 hand H3225
From those who rise H6965 up H6965 against them.
8 Keep H8104 me as [fn]the apple H380 of the eye H5869;
Hide H5641 me in the shadow H6738 of Your wings H3671
9 From the wicked H7563 who deal H7703 violently H7703 with H7703 me,
My deadly H5315 enemies H340 who surround H5362 me.
10 They have closed H5462 their [fn]unfeeling H2459 hearts,
With their mouths H6310 they speak H1696 proudly H1348.
11 They have now H6258 surrounded H5437 us in our steps H838;
They set H7896 their eyes H5869 to cast H5186 us down H5186 to the ground H776.
12 He is like H1825 a lion H738 that is eager H3700 to tear H2963,
And as a young H3715 lion H3715 lurking H3427 in secret H4565 places H4565.
13 Arise H6965, LORD H3068, confront H6923 him, make H3766 him bow H3766 down H3766;
Save H6403 my soul H5315 from the wicked H7563 with Your sword H2719,
14 From people H4962 by Your hand H3027, LORD H3068,
From people H4962 [fn]of the world H2465, whose portion H2506 is in this life H2416,
And whose belly H990 You fill H4390 with Your treasure H6840;
They are H7646 satisfied H7646 with children H1121,
And leave H5117 their abundance H3499 to their babies H5768.
15 As for me, I shall behold H2372 Your face H6440 in righteousness H6664;
I shall be H7646 satisfied H7646 with Your likeness H8544 when I awake H6974.
