Warnings and Instructions

1 The wicked ^H7563 flee ^H5127 when no ^H369 one ^H369 is pursuing ^H7291,

But the righteous ^H6662 are ^H982 [fn]bold ^H982 as a lion ^H3715.

2 Due to a [fn]wrongdoing ^H6588 of [fn]a land ^H776 its leaders ^H8269 are many ^H7227,

But by a person ^H120 of understanding ^H995 and knowledge ^H3045, so ^H3651 it endures ^H748.

3 A poor ^H7326 man ^H1397 who oppresses ^H6231 the helpless ^H1800

Is like a driving ^H5502 rain ^H4306 [fn]which leaves ^H369 no ^H369 food ^H3899.

4 Those who abandon ^H5800 the Law ^H8451 praise ^H1984 the wicked ^H7563,

But those who keep ^H8104 the Law ^H8451 strive ^H1624 against them.

5 Evil ^H7451 people ^H376 do not understand ^H995 justice ^H4941,

But those who seek ^H1245 the LORD ^H3068 understand ^H995 everything ^H3605.

6 Better ^H2896 is a poor ^H7326 person ^H7326 who walks ^H1980 in his integrity ^H8537,

Than ^H4480 a person who is [fn]crooked ^H6141 H1870, though he is rich ^H6223.

7 He who keeps ^H5341 the Law ^H8451 is a discerning ^H995 son ^H1121,

But he who is a companion ^H7462 of gluttons ^H2151 humiliates ^H3637 his father ^H1.

8 One who increases ^H7235 his wealth ^H1952 by [fn]interest ^H5392 H8636 of any kind,

Collects ^H6908 it for one who is gracious ^H2603 to the poor ^H1800.

9 One who turns ^H5493 his ear ^H241 away ^H5493 from listening ^H8085 to the Law ^H8451,

Even ^H1571 his prayer ^H8605 is an abomination ^H8441.

10 One who leads ^H7686 the upright ^H3477 astray ^H7686 in an evil ^H7451 way ^H1870

Will himself ^H1931 fall ^H5307 into his own pit ^H7816,

But the blameless ^H8549 will inherit ^H5157 good ^H2896.

11 The rich ^H6223 person ^H376 is wise ^H2450 in his own eyes ^H5869,

But the poor ^H1800 who has ^H995 understanding ^H995 [fn]sees ^H2713 through ^H2713 him.

12 When the righteous ^H6662 triumph ^H5970, there is great ^H7227 glory ^H8597,

But when the wicked ^H7563 rise ^H6965, people ^H120 [fn]hide ^H2664 themselves.

16 A leader ^H5057 who is a great ^H7227 oppressor ^H4642 lacks ^H2638 understanding ^H8394,

But a person who hates ^H8130 unjust ^H1215 gain ^H1215 will prolong ^H748 his days ^H3117.

17 A person ^H120 who is burdened ^H6231 with the guilt of human ^H5315 blood ^H1818

Will [fn]be a fugitive ^H5127 until ^H5704 death ^H953; no ^H408 one is to support ^H8551 him!

18 One who walks ^H1980 blamelessly ^H8549 will receive ^H3467 help ^H3467,

But one who is [fn]crooked ^H6140 H1870 will fall ^H5307 all ^H259 at once ^H259.

19 One who works ^H5647 his land ^H127 will have ^H7646 plenty ^H7646 of food ^H3899,

But one who follows ^H7291 empty ^H7386 pursuits will have ^H7646 plenty ^H7646 of poverty ^H7389.

20 A faithful ^H530 person ^H376 will abound ^H7227 with blessings ^H1293,

But one who hurries ^H213 to be ^H6238 rich ^H6238 will not go ^H5352 unpunished ^H5352.

21 To [fn]show ^H5234 partiality ^H5234 H6440 is not good ^H2896,

Because for a piece ^H6595 of bread ^H3899 a man ^H1397 will do ^H6586 wrong ^H6586.

22 A person ^H376 with an evil ^H7451 eye ^H5869 hurries ^H926 after wealth ^H1952

And does not know ^H3045 that poverty ^H2639 will come ^H935 upon him.

23 One who rebukes ^H3198 a person ^H120 will afterward ^H310 find ^H4672 more favor ^H2580

Than ^H4480 one who flatters ^H2505 with the tongue ^H3956.

24 He who robs ^H1497 his father ^H1 or his mother ^H517

And says ^H559, “There ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 wrong ^H6588 done ^H6588,”

Is the companion ^H2270 of a person ^H376 who destroys ^H7843.

25 An [fn]arrogant ^H7342 person ^H5315 stirs ^H1624 up ^H1624 strife ^H4066,

But one who trusts ^H982 in the LORD ^H3068 will [fn]prosper ^H1878.

26 One who trusts ^H982 in his own heart ^H3820 is a fool ^H3684,

But one who walks ^H1980 wisely ^H2451 will flee ^H4422 to ^H4422 safety ^H4422.

27 One who gives ^H5414 to the poor ^H7326 will never ^H369 lack ^H4270 anything,

But one who [fn]shuts ^H5956 his eyes ^H5869 will have many ^H7227 curses ^H3994.

28 When the wicked ^H7563 rise ^H6965, people ^H120 hide ^H5641 themselves;

But when they perish ^H6, the righteous ^H6662 increase ^H7235.
