Laws on Immoral Relations

1 Then the LORD ^H3068 spoke ^H1696 to Moses ^H4872, saying ^H559,

2 “Speak ^H1696 to the sons ^H1121 of Israel ^H3478 and say ^H559 to them, ‘I am the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430. 3 You shall not do ^H6213 [fn]what ^H4639 is done ^H4639 in the land ^H776 of Egypt ^H4714 where ^H834 you lived ^H3427, nor ^H3808 are you to do ^H6213 [fn]what ^H4639 is done ^H4639 in the land ^H776 of Canaan ^H3667 where ^H834 H8033 I am bringing ^H935 you; you shall not walk ^H1980 in their statutes ^H2708. 4 You are to perform ^H6213 My judgments ^H4941 and keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2708, [fn]to live ^H1980 in accord with them; I am the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430. 5 So you shall keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2708 and My judgments ^H4941, which ^H834, if [fn]a person ^H120 [fn]follows ^H6213 them, then he will live ^H2421 by them; I am the LORD ^H3068.

6 ‘None ^H376 H3808 of you shall approach ^H7126 any ^H3605 blood ^H7607 relative ^H7607 H1320 [fn]of his to uncover ^H1540 nakedness ^H6172; I am the LORD ^H3068. 7 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your father ^H1, that is, the nakedness ^H6172 of your mother ^H517. She is your mother ^H517; you are not to uncover ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172. 8 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your father’s ^H1 wife ^H802; it is your father’s ^H1 nakedness ^H6172. 9 As for the nakedness ^H6172 of your sister ^H269, either your father’s ^H1 daughter ^H1323 or ^H176 your mother’s ^H517 daughter ^H1323, whether born ^H4138 in the household ^H1004 or ^H176 born ^H4138 outside ^H2351 the household, you shall not uncover ^H1540 their nakedness ^H6172. 10 The nakedness ^H6172 of your son’s ^H1121 daughter ^H1323 or ^H176 your daughter’s ^H1323 daughter ^H1323, their nakedness ^H6172 you shall not uncover ^H1540; for [fn]their nakedness ^H6172 is yours. 11 The nakedness ^H6172 of your father’s ^H1 wife’s ^H802 daughter ^H1323, born ^H4138 to your father ^H1, she is your sister ^H269; you shall not uncover ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172. 12 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your father’s ^H1 sister ^H269; she is your father’s ^H1 blood ^H7607 relative ^H7607. 13 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your mother’s ^H517 sister ^H269, for she is your mother’s ^H517 blood ^H7607 relative ^H7607. 14 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your father’s ^H1 brother ^H251. You shall not approach ^H7126 his wife ^H802; she is your aunt ^H1733. 15 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your daughter-in-law ^H3618. She is your son’s ^H1121 wife ^H802; you shall not uncover ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172. 16 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of your brother’s ^H251 wife ^H802; it is your brother’s ^H251 nakedness ^H6172. 17 You shall not uncover ^H1540 the nakedness ^H6172 of a woman ^H802 and of her daughter ^H1323, nor ^H3808 shall you take ^H3947 her son’s ^H1121 daughter ^H1323 or her daughter’s ^H1323 daughter ^H1323, to uncover ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172; they are blood ^H7607 relatives ^H7607. It is an outrageous ^H2154 sin ^H2154. 18 And you shall not [fn]marry ^H3947 a woman ^H802 in ^H413 addition ^H413 to ^H413 her sister ^H269 [fn]as a second ^H6887 wife ^H6887 while she is alive ^H2416, to uncover ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172.

19 ‘Also you shall not approach ^H7126 a woman ^H802 to uncover ^H1540 her nakedness ^H6172 during her menstrual ^H5079 impurity ^H2932. 20 And you shall not have ^H5414 sexual ^H2233 intercourse ^H7903 with your neighbor’s ^H5997 wife ^H802, to be defiled ^H2930 with her. 21 You shall not give ^H5414 any ^H4480 of your children ^H2233 to [fn]offer ^H5674 them to Molech ^H4432, nor ^H3808 shall you profane ^H2455 the name ^H8034 of your God ^H430; I am the LORD ^H3068. 22 You shall not sleep ^H7901 with a male ^H2145 as [fn]one sleeps ^H7901 with a female ^H802; it is an abomination ^H8441. 23 Also you shall not have ^H5414 H7903 sexual ^H5414 H7903 intercourse ^H5414 H7903 with any ^H3605 animal ^H929 to be defiled ^H2930 with it, nor ^H3808 shall any ^H802 woman ^H802 stand ^H5975 before ^H6440 an animal ^H929 to [fn]mate ^H7250 with it; it is a perversion ^H8397.

24 ‘Do not defile ^H2930 yourselves by any ^H3605 of these ^H428 things ^H428; for by all ^H3605 these ^H428 things ^H428 the nations ^H1471 which ^H834 I am driving ^H7971 out ^H7971 from you have become ^H2930 defiled ^H2930. 25 For the land ^H776 has become ^H2930 defiled ^H2930, therefore I have brought ^H6485 its punishment ^H5771 upon it, so the land ^H776 has vomited ^H6958 out ^H6958 its inhabitants ^H3427. 26 But as for you, you are to keep ^H8104 My statutes ^H2708 and My judgments ^H4941, and you shall not do ^H6213 any ^H4480 H3605 of these ^H428 abominations ^H8441, neither the native ^H249, nor the stranger ^H1616 who resides ^H1481 among ^H8432 you 27 (for the people ^H376 of the land ^H776 who ^H834 were there before ^H6440 you did ^H6213 all ^H3605 these ^H411 abominations ^H8441, and the land ^H776 has become ^H2930 defiled ^H2930), 28 so that the land ^H776 will not vomit ^H6958 you out ^H6958 should you defile ^H2930 it, as it has vomited ^H6958 out ^H6958 the nation ^H1471 which ^H834 was there before ^H6440 you. 29 For whoever ^H3605 H834 does ^H6213 any ^H4480 H3605 of these ^H428 abominations ^H8441, those persons ^H5315 who do ^H6213 so shall be cut ^H3772 off ^H3772 from among ^H7130 their people ^H5971. 30 So you are to keep ^H8104 your [fn]commitment ^H4931 to Me not to practice ^H6213 any ^H4480 of the abominable ^H8441 customs ^H2708 which ^H834 have been practiced ^H6213 before ^H6440 you, so that you do not defile ^H2930 yourselves with them; I am the LORD ^H3068 your God ^H430.’”
