God Speaks Now to Job

1 Then the LORD ^H3068 answered ^H6030 Job ^H347 from the whirlwind ^H5591 and said ^H559,

2 “Who ^H4310 is this ^H2088 who darkens ^H2821 the divine plan ^H6098

By words ^H4405 without ^H1097 knowledge ^H1847?

3 “Now ^H4994 [fn]tighten ^H247 the ^H247 belt ^H247 on your waist ^H2504 like a man ^H1397,

And I shall ask ^H7592 you, and you inform ^H3045 Me!

4 “Where ^H375 were you when I laid ^H3245 the foundation ^H3245 of the earth ^H776?

Tell ^H5046 Me, if ^H518 you [fn]have ^H3045 understanding ^H998,

5 Who ^H4310 set ^H7760 its measurements ^H4461? Since ^H3588 you know ^H3045.

Or ^H176 who ^H4310 stretched ^H5186 the measuring ^H6957 line ^H6957 over ^H5921 it?

6 “On what ^H4100 were its bases ^H134 sunk ^H2883?

Or ^H176 who ^H4310 laid ^H3384 its cornerstone ^H68 H6438,

7 When the morning ^H1242 stars ^H3556 sang ^H7442 together ^H3162

And all ^H3605 the sons ^H1121 of God ^H430 shouted ^H7321 for ^H7321 joy ^H7321?

8 “Or who enclosed ^H7753 the sea ^H3220 with doors ^H1817

When it went ^H3318 out ^H3318 from the womb ^H7358, bursting ^H1518 forth ^H1518;

9 When I made ^H7760 a cloud ^H6051 its garment ^H3830,

And thick ^H6205 darkness ^H6205 its swaddling ^H2854 bands ^H2854,

10 And I [fn]placed ^H7665 boundaries ^H2706 on it

And set ^H7760 a bolt ^H1280 and doors ^H1817,

And here ^H6311 your proud ^H1347 waves ^H1530 shall stop ^H7896’?

God’s Mighty Power

12 “Have you [fn]ever ^H4480 H3117 in your life ^H3117 commanded ^H6680 the morning ^H1242,

And made the dawn ^H7837 know ^H3045 its place ^H4725,

13 So that it would take ^H270 hold ^H270 of the ends ^H3671 of the earth ^H776,

And the wicked ^H7563 would be shaken ^H5287 off ^H5287 from it?

14 “It is changed ^H2015 like clay ^H2563 under the seal ^H2368;

And they stand ^H3320 out ^H3320 like ^H3644 a garment ^H3830.

15 “Their light ^H216 is withheld ^H4513 from the wicked ^H7563,

And the uplifted ^H7311 arm ^H2220 is broken ^H7665.

16 “Have you entered ^H935 the springs ^H5033 of the sea ^H3220,

And walked ^H1980 [fn]in the depth ^H2714 of the ocean ^H8415?

17 “Have the gates ^H8179 of death ^H4194 been revealed ^H1540 to you,

And have you seen ^H7200 the gates ^H8179 of deep ^H6757 darkness ^H6757?

18 “Have you understood ^H995 the [fn]expanse ^H7338 of the earth ^H776?

Tell ^H5046 Me, if ^H518 you know ^H3045 all ^H3605 this.

19 “Where ^H335 is the way ^H1870 to the dwelling ^H7931 of light ^H216?

And darkness ^H2822, where ^H335 is its place ^H4725,

20 That you would take ^H3947 it to its territory ^H1366,

And discern ^H995 the paths ^H5410 to its [fn]home ^H1004?

21 “You know ^H3045, for you were born ^H3205 then ^H227,

And the number ^H4557 of your days ^H3117 is great ^H7227!

22 “Have you entered ^H935 the storehouses ^H214 of the snow ^H7950,

And have you seen ^H7200 the storehouses ^H214 of the hail ^H1259,

23 Which ^H834 I have reserved ^H2820 for a time ^H6256 of distress ^H6862,

For a day ^H3117 of war ^H7128 and battle ^H4421?

24 “Where ^H335 is the way ^H1870 that the light ^H216 is divided ^H2505,

And the east ^H6921 wind ^H6921 scattered ^H6327 on the earth ^H776?

25 “Who ^H4310 has split ^H6385 open a channel ^H8585 for the flood ^H7858,

And a way ^H1870 for the thunderbolt ^H6963 H2385,

26 To bring ^H4305 rain ^H4305 on a land ^H776 without ^H3808 [fn]people ^H376,

On a desert ^H4057 without ^H3808 a person ^H120 in it,

27 To satisfy ^H7646 the waste ^H7722 and desolate ^H4875 land,

And to make the [fn]seeds ^H4161 of grass ^H1877 to sprout ^H6779?

28 “Does the rain ^H4306 have ^H3426 a father ^H1?

Or ^H176 who ^H4310 has fathered ^H3205 the drops ^H96 of dew ^H2919?

29 “From whose ^H4310 womb ^H990 has come ^H3318 the ice ^H7140?

And the frost ^H3713 of heaven ^H8064, who ^H4310 has given ^H3205 it birth ^H3205?

30 “Water ^H4325 [fn]becomes ^H2244 hard ^H2244 like stone ^H68,

And the surface ^H6440 of the deep ^H8415 is imprisoned ^H3920.

31 “Can you tie ^H7194 up ^H7194 the chains ^H4575 of the Pleiades ^H3598,

Or ^H176 untie ^H6605 the cords ^H4189 of Orion ^H3685?

32 “Can you bring ^H3318 out ^H3318 a [fn]constellation ^H4216 in its season ^H6256,

And guide ^H5148 the Bear ^H5906 with her [fn]satellites ^H1121?

33 “Do you know ^H3045 the ordinances ^H2708 of the heavens ^H8064,

Or ^H518 do you establish ^H7760 their rule ^H4896 over the earth ^H776?

34 “Can you raise ^H7311 your voice ^H6963 to the clouds ^H5645,

So that an abundance ^H8229 of water ^H4325 will cover ^H3680 you?

35 “Can you send ^H7971 flashes ^H1300 of ^H1300 lightning ^H1300, so that they may go ^H1980

And say ^H559 to you, ‘Here ^H2009 we are’?

36 “Who ^H4310 has put ^H7896 wisdom ^H2451 in the innermost ^H2910 being ^H2910,

Or ^H176 given ^H5414 understanding ^H998 to the [fn]mind ^H7907?

37 “Who ^H4310 can count ^H5608 the clouds ^H7834 by wisdom ^H2451,

And pour ^H7901 out ^H7901 the water ^H5035 jars ^H5035 of the heavens ^H8064,

38 When the dust ^H6083 hardens ^H3332 into a mass ^H4165

And the clods ^H7263 stick ^H1692 together ^H1692?

39 “Can you hunt ^H6679 the prey ^H2964 for the lioness ^H3833,

Or satisfy ^H4390 the appetite ^H2416 of young ^H3715 lions ^H3715,

40 When ^H3588 they crouch ^H7817 in ^H7817 their hiding ^H4585 places ^H4585,

And lie ^H695 in ^H695 wait ^H695 in their lair ^H5521?

41 “Who ^H4310 prepares ^H3559 [fn]feed ^H6718 for the raven ^H6158

When ^H3588 its young ^H3206 cry ^H7768 to God ^H410,

And wander ^H8582 about ^H8582 without ^H1097 food ^H400?
