Elihu Says God Has Authority over the Storm

1 “At this ^H2088 also ^H637 my heart ^H3820 trembles ^H2729,

And leaps ^H5425 from its place ^H4725.

2 “Listen ^H8085 closely ^H8085 to the thunder ^H7267 of His voice ^H6963,

And the rumbling ^H1899 that goes ^H3318 out ^H3318 from His mouth ^H6310.

3 “Under ^H8478 the whole ^H3605 heaven ^H8064 He lets ^H8281 it loose ^H8281,

And His [fn]lightning ^H216 travels to the ends ^H3671 of the earth ^H776.

4 “After ^H310 it, a voice ^H6963 roars ^H7580;

He thunders ^H7481 with His majestic ^H1347 voice ^H6963,

And He does not restrain ^H6117 [fn]the lightning when His voice ^H6963 is heard ^H8085.

5 “God ^H410 thunders ^H7481 wondrously ^H6381 with His voice ^H6963,

Doing ^H6213 great ^H1419 things ^H1419 which we do not comprehend ^H3045.

6 “For to the snow ^H7950 He says ^H559, ‘Fall ^H1933 on the earth ^H776,’

And to the [fn]downpour ^H1653 H4306 and the rain ^H1653 H4306, ‘Be strong ^H5797.’

7 “He seals ^H2856 the hand ^H3027 of every ^H3605 person ^H120,

So that all ^H3605 people ^H376 may know ^H3045 His work ^H4639.

8 “Then the animal ^H2416 goes ^H935 into its lair ^H695

And remains ^H7931 in its [fn]den ^H4585.

9 “From the [fn]south ^H2315 comes ^H935 the storm ^H5492,

And from the north ^H2219 wind ^H2219 the cold ^H7135.

10 “From the breath ^H5397 of God ^H410 ice ^H7140 is made ^H5414,

And the expanse ^H7341 of the waters ^H4325 is frozen ^H4164.

11 “He also ^H637 loads ^H2959 the clouds ^H5645 with moisture ^H7377;

He disperses ^H6327 the cloud ^H6051 of His [fn]lightning ^H216.

12 “It changes ^H4524 direction ^H4524, turning ^H2015 around ^H2015 by His guidance ^H8458,

That [fn]it may do ^H6466 whatever ^H3605 H834 He commands ^H6680 [fn]it

On the face ^H6440 of the inhabited ^H8398 earth ^H776.

13 “Whether ^H518 for [fn]correction ^H7626, or ^H518 for His earth ^H776,

Or ^H518 for goodness ^H2617, He causes it to [fn]happen ^H4672.

14 “Listen ^H238 to this ^H2088, Job ^H347;

Stand ^H5975 and consider ^H995 the wonders ^H6381 of God ^H410.

15 “Do you know ^H3045 how God ^H433 establishes ^H7760 them,

And makes the [fn]lightning ^H216 of His clouds ^H6051 to shine ^H3313?

16 “Do you know ^H3045 about ^H5921 the hovering ^H4657 of the clouds ^H5645,

The wonders ^H4652 of One who is perfect ^H8549 in knowledge ^H1843,

17 You whose ^H834 garments ^H899 are hot ^H2525

When the land ^H776 is ^H8252 still ^H8252 because ^H4480 of the south ^H1864 wind?

18 “Can you, with Him, spread ^H7554 out ^H7554 the skies ^H7834,

Strong ^H2389 as a cast ^H3332 metal ^H3332 mirror ^H7209?

19 “Teach ^H3045 us what ^H4100 we are to say ^H559 to Him;

We cannot ^H3808 present ^H6186 our case because ^H4480 H6440 of darkness ^H2822.

20 “Shall it be told ^H5608 Him that I would speak ^H1696?

[fn]Or ^H518 should a man ^H376 say ^H559 that he would be swallowed ^H1104 up ^H1104?

21 “Now ^H6258 people do not see ^H7200 the light ^H216 which ^H1931 is bright ^H925 in the skies ^H7834;

But the wind ^H7307 has passed ^H5674 and cleared ^H2891 them.

22 “From the north ^H6828 comes ^H857 golden ^H2091 splendor;

Around ^H5921 God ^H433 is awesome ^H3372 majesty ^H1935.

23 “The Almighty ^H7706—we cannot ^H3808 find ^H4672 Him;

He is exalted ^H7689 in power ^H3581

And He will not violate ^H6031 justice ^H4941 and abundant ^H7230 righteousness ^H6666.

24 “Therefore ^H3651 people ^H376 fear ^H3372 Him;

He does not regard ^H7200 any ^H3605 who are wise ^H2450 of heart ^H3820.”
