Job Says He Longs for God
1 Then Job H347 responded H6030 H559,
2 “Even H1571 today H3117 my complaint H7879 is rebellion H4805;
[fn]His hand H3027 is H3513 heavy H3513 despite H5921 my groaning H585.
3 “Oh H4310 H5414 that H4310 H5414 I knew H3045 how H3045 to find H4672 Him,
That I might come H935 to His home H8499!
4 “I would present H6186 my case H4941 before H6440 Him
And fill H4390 my mouth H6310 with arguments H8433.
5 “I would learn H3045 the words H4405 which He would [fn]answer H6030,
And perceive H995 what H4100 He would tell H559 me.
6 “Would He contend H7378 with me by the greatness H7230 of His power H3581?
No H3808, surely H389 He would pay H7760 attention H7760 to me.
7 “There H8033 the upright H3477 would argue H3198 with Him;
And I [fn]would be free H6403 of H6403 my Judge H8199 forever H5331.
8 “Behold H2005, I go H1980 forward H6924 but He is not there,
And backward H268, but I cannot H3808 perceive H995 Him;
9 When He acts H6213 on the left H8040, I cannot H3808 see H2372 Him;
He turns H5848 to the right H3225, but I cannot H3808 see H7200 Him.
10 “But He knows H3045 the [fn]way H1870 I take H5973;
When He has put H974 me to H974 the H974 test H974, I will come H3318 out H3318 as gold H2091.
11 “My foot H7272 has held H270 on H270 to His path H838;
I have kept H8104 His way H1870 and not turned H5186 aside H5186.
12 “I have not [fn]failed H4185 H4480 the command H4687 of His lips H8193;
I have treasured H6845 the words H561 of His mouth H6310 [fn]more H4480 than H4480 my [fn]necessary H2706 food H2706.
13 “But He is unique H259, and who H4310 can [fn]make H7725 Him turn H7725?
Whatever His soul H5315 desires H183, He does H6213 it.
14 “For He carries H7999 out H7999 what H2706 is H2706 destined H2706 for me,
And many H7227 such H1992 destinies are with Him.
15 “Therefore H5921 H3651, I would be terrified H926 at His presence H6440;
When I consider H995 this, I am frightened H6342 of Him.
16 “It is God H410 who has made my heart H3820 faint H7401,
And the Almighty H7706 who has terrified H926 me,
