And it will be on the day ^H3117 when the LORD ^H3068 gives ^H5117 you rest ^H5117 from your hardship ^H6090, your turmoil ^H7267, and from the harsh ^H7186 service ^H5656 in which ^H834 you have been enslaved ^H5647,

“How ^H349 the oppressor ^H5065 has ceased ^H7673,

And how the [fn]onslaught ^H4062 has ceased ^H7673!

“The LORD ^H3068 has broken ^H7665 the staff ^H4294 of the wicked ^H7563,

The scepter ^H7626 of rulers ^H4910,

Which used to strike ^H5221 the peoples ^H5971 in fury ^H5678 with unceasing ^H1115 H5627 strokes ^H4347,

Which [fn]subdued ^H7287 the nations ^H1471 in anger ^H639 with unrestrained ^H2820 H1097 persecution ^H4783.

It raises ^H6965 all ^H3605 the kings ^H4428 of the nations ^H1471 from their thrones ^H3678.

“They will all ^H3605 respond ^H6030 and say ^H559 to you,

‘Even ^H1571 you have become ^H2470 weak ^H2470 as we,

You have become ^H4911 like ^H4911 us.

‘Your pride ^H1347 and the music ^H1998 of your harps ^H5035

And worms ^H8439 are your covering ^H4374.’

“How ^H349 you have fallen ^H5307 from heaven ^H4605,

“Those who see ^H7200 you will stare ^H7688 at you,

They will [fn]closely ^H995 examine ^H995 you, saying,

‘Is this ^H2088 the man ^H376 who made the earth ^H776 tremble ^H7264,

Who shook ^H7493 kingdoms ^H4467,

Who made ^H7760 the world ^H8398 like a wilderness ^H4057

And overthrew ^H2040 its cities ^H5892,

Who did not [fn]allow ^H6605 his prisoners ^H615 to go home ^H1004?’

“All ^H3605 the kings ^H4428 of the nations ^H1471 lie ^H7901 in glory ^H3519,

“You will not be united ^H3161 with them in burial ^H6900,

May the descendants ^H2233 of evildoers ^H7489 never ^H3808 H5769 be mentioned ^H7121.

“Prepare ^H3559 a place ^H4293 of ^H4293 slaughter ^H4293 for his sons ^H1121

“Wail ^H3213, you gate ^H8179; cry ^H2199, you city ^H5892;

[fn]Melt ^H4127 away ^H4127, Philistia ^H6429, all ^H3605 of you!

For smoke ^H6227 comes ^H935 from the north ^H6828,

And there ^H369 is ^H369 no ^H369 straggler ^H909 in his ranks ^H4151.

“What ^H4100 answer ^H6030 will one give ^H6030 the messengers ^H4397 of the nation ^H1471?

That the LORD ^H3068 has founded ^H3245 Zion ^H6726,

And the poor ^H6041 of His people ^H5971 will take ^H2620 refuge ^H2620 in it.”
