“Therefore, everyone who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock.
“But everyone who hears these words of mine and doesn't act on them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand.
Some Pharisees came to test him, asking, “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife? ”

“Therefore,” he said, “let those of you who have authority go down with me and accuse him, if he has done anything wrong.”
For example, a married woman is legally bound to her husband while he lives. But if her husband dies, she is released from the law regarding the husband.
So then, if she is married to another man while her husband is living, she will be called an adulteress. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law. Then, if she is married to another man, she is not an adulteress.
But if she does leave, she must remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband — and a husband is not to divorce his wife.
For I am jealous for you with a godly jealousy, because I have promised you in marriage to one husband — to present a pure virgin to Christ.
Because if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like someone looking at his own face[fn] in a mirror.
