The Danites said to him, “Don't raise your voice against us, or angry men will attack you, and you and your family will lose your lives.”
When David finished saying these things to him, Saul replied, “Is that your voice, David my son? ” Then Saul wept aloud
Saul recognized David's voice and asked, “Is that your voice, my son David? ”
“It is my voice, my lord and king,” David said.
“The priest Zadok and the prophet Nathan have anointed him king in Gihon. They have gone up from there rejoicing. The town has been in an uproar; that's the noise you heard.
All afternoon they kept on raving until the offering of the evening sacrifice, but there was no sound; no one answered, no one paid attention.
Then there comes a roaring sound;
God thunders with his majestic voice.
He does not restrain the lightning
when his rumbling voice is heard.
My dove, in the clefts of the rock,
in the crevices of the cliff,
let me see your face,[fn]
let me hear your voice;
for your voice is sweet,
and your face is lovely.
You will be brought down;
you will speak from the ground,
and your words will come from low in the dust.
Your voice will be like that of a spirit from the ground;
your speech will whisper from the dust.
