And the man said:
This one, at last, is bone of my bone
and flesh of my flesh;
this one will be called “woman,”
for she was taken from man.
“If a man commits adultery with a married woman — if he commits adultery with his neighbor's wife — both the adulterer and the adulteress must be put to death.
“They are not to marry a woman defiled by prostitution.[fn] They are not to marry one divorced by her husband, for the priest is holy to his God.
“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: If any man's wife goes astray, is unfaithful to him,
“and sleeps with another,[fn] but it is concealed from her husband, and she is undetected, even though she has defiled herself, since there is no witness against her, and she wasn't caught in the act;
“But if you have gone astray while under your husband's authority, if you have defiled yourself and a man other than your husband has slept with you' —
“This is the law regarding jealousy when a wife goes astray and defiles herself while under her husband's authority,
“If a woman in her husband's house has made a vow or put herself under an obligation with an oath,
These are the statutes that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the relationship between a man and his wife, or between a father and his daughter in his house during her youth.
“I commanded your judges at that time: Hear the cases between your brothers, and judge rightly between a man and his brother or his resident alien.
“A woman is not to wear male clothing, and a man is not to put on a woman's garment, for everyone who does these things is detestable to the LORD your God.
“When brothers live on the same property[fn] and one of them dies without a son, the wife of the dead man may not marry a stranger outside the family. Her brother-in-law is to take her as his wife, have sexual relations with her, and perform the duty of a brother-in-law for her.

Whoever would not seek the LORD God of Israel would be put to death, young or old,[fn] man or woman.
“The Levites are to completely surround the king with weapons in hand. Anyone who enters the temple is to be put to death. Accompany the king in all his daily tasks.”[fn]
Please, Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of your servant and to that of your servants who delight to revere your name. Give your servant success today, and grant him compassion in the presence of this man.[fn]
At the time, I was the king's cupbearer.
On the first day of the seventh month, the priest Ezra brought the law before the assembly of men, women, and all who could listen with understanding.
For he repays a person according to his deeds,

The one who robs his father or mother
and says, “That's no sin,”
is a companion to a person who destroys.
One who becomes stiff-necked,
after many reprimands
will be shattered instantly —
beyond recovery.
A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father,
but one who consorts with prostitutes destroys his wealth.
the way of an eagle in the sky,
the way of a snake on a rock,
the way of a ship at sea,
and the way of a man with a young woman.
I saw that all labor and all skillful work is due to one person's jealousy of another. This too is futile and a pursuit of the wind.[fn]
Now a poor wise man was found in the city, and he delivered the city by his wisdom. Yet no one remembered that poor man.
Then Assyria will fall,
but not by human sword;
a sword will devour him,
but not one made by man.
He will flee from the sword;
his young men will be put to forced labor.
The woodworker stretches out a measuring line,
he outlines it with a stylus;
he shapes it with chisels
and outlines it with a compass.
He makes it according to a human form,
like a beautiful person,
to dwell in a temple.
Instead, if you really correct your ways and your actions, if you act justly toward one another,[fn]
