LXX Concordance for ἀνδρὶ

The woman saw that the tree was good for food and delightful to look at, and that it was desirable for obtaining wisdom. So she took some of its fruit and ate it; she also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

So Abram's wife, Sarai, took Hagar, her Egyptian slave, and gave her to her husband, Abram, as a wife for him. This happened after Abram had lived in the land of Canaan ten years.

Laban replied, “Better that I give her to you than to some other man. Stay with me.”

“When a man or woman has a condition on the head or chin,

“When a man or a woman has white spots on the skin of the body,

“Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When any man has a discharge from his member, he is unclean.

“If the priest's daughter is married to a man outside a priest's family,[fn] she is not to eat from the holy contributions.[fn]

“If a woman marries while her vows or the rash commitment she herself made are binding,

“If there is a young woman who is a virgin engaged to a man, and another man encounters her in the city and sleeps with her,

“If after leaving his house she goes and becomes another man's wife,

“When brothers live on the same property[fn] and one of them dies without a son, the wife of the dead man may not marry a stranger outside the family. Her brother-in-law is to take her as his wife, have sexual relations with her, and perform the duty of a brother-in-law for her.

He said about Levi:

Your Thummim and Urim belong to your faithful one;[fn]

you tested him at Massah

and contended with him at the Waters of Meribah.

Then the woman went and told her husband, “A man of God came to me. He looked like the awe-inspiring angel of God. I didn't ask him where he came from, and he didn't tell me his name.

The woman ran quickly to her husband and told him, “The man who came to me the other day has just come back! ”

“Here, let me bring out my virgin daughter and the man's concubine now. Abuse them and do whatever you want to them. But don't commit this outrageous thing against this man.”

The men of Israel had a prearranged signal with the men in ambush: when they sent up a great cloud of smoke from the city,

The man's name was Elimelech, and his wife's name was Naomi.[fn] The names of his two sons were Mahlon and Chilion. They were Ephrathites from Bethlehem in Judah. They entered the fields of Moab and settled there.

“Return home, my daughters. Go on, for I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me to have a husband tonight and to bear sons,

Now Naomi had a relative on her husband's side. He was a prominent man of noble character from Elimelech's family. His name was Boaz.

“Wash, put on perfumed oil, and wear your best clothes. Go down to the threshing floor, but don't let the man know you are there until he has finished eating and drinking.

Hannah did not go and explained to her husband, “After the child is weaned, I'll take him to appear in the LORD's presence and to stay there permanently.”

Even before the fat was burned, the priest's servant would come and say to the one who was sacrificing, “Give the priest some meat to roast, because he won't accept boiled meat from you ​— ​only raw.”

Then she said to her male servants, “Go ahead of me. I will be right behind you.” But she did not tell her husband, Nabal.

Now a traveler came to the rich man, but the rich man could not bring himself to take one of his own sheep or cattle to prepare for the traveler who had come to him. Instead, he took the poor man's lamb and prepared it for his guest.[fn]

“You just saw him! ” Joab exclaimed.[fn] “Why didn't you strike him to the ground right there? I would have given you ten silver pieces[fn] and a belt! ”

The men of Israel answered the men of Judah, “We have ten shares in the king, so we have a greater claim to David than you. Why then do you despise us? Weren't we the first to speak of restoring our king? ” But the words of the men of Judah were harsher than those of the men of Israel.

may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place,

and may you forgive, act, and give to everyone

according to all their ways, since you know each heart,

for you alone know every human heart,

Then Menahem exacted twenty ounces[fn] of silver from each of the prominent men of Israel to give to the king of Assyria. So the king of Assyria withdrew and did not stay there in the land.

She said to them, “This is what the LORD God of Israel says: Say to the man who sent you to me,

Then he distributed to each and every Israelite, both men and women, a loaf of bread, a date cake, and a raisin cake.

“Since the day I brought my people Israel

out of the land of Egypt,

I have not chosen a city to build a temple in

among any of the tribes of Israel,

so that my name would be there,

and I have not chosen a man

to be ruler over my people Israel.

may you hear in heaven, your dwelling place,

and may you forgive and give to everyone[fn]

according to all their ways, since you know each heart,

for you alone know the human heart,

She said to them, “This is what the LORD God of Israel says: Say to the man who sent you to me,

Why is life given to a man whose path is hidden,

whom God has hedged in?

I wish that someone might argue for a man with God

just as anyone[fn] would for a friend.

Your wickedness affects a person like yourself,

and your righteousness, a son of man.[fn]

you have been snared by the words of your mouth —

trapped by the words from your mouth.

As shameful conduct is pleasure for a fool,

so wisdom is for a person of understanding.

A gracious woman gains honor,

but violent[fn] people gain only riches.

A wife of noble character[fn] is her husband's crown,

but a wife who causes shame

is like rottenness in his bones.

Stay away from a foolish person;

you will gain no knowledge from his speech.

Better for a person to meet a bear robbed of her cubs

than a fool in his foolishness.

What is desirable in a person is his fidelity;

better to be a poor person than a liar.

Honor belongs to the person who ends a dispute,

but any fool can get himself into a quarrel.

It is a trap for anyone to dedicate something rashly

and later to reconsider his vows.

Don't make friends with an angry person,[fn]

and don't be a companion of a hot-tempered one,

Don't eat a stingy person's bread,[fn]

and don't desire his choice food,

A foolish scheme is sin,

and a mocker is detestable to people.

for wealth is not forever;

not even a crown lasts for all time.

An evil person is caught by sin,

but the righteous one sings and rejoices.

The fear of mankind is a snare,

but the one who trusts in the LORD is protected.[fn]

She rewards him with good, not evil,

all the days of her life.

She makes her own bed coverings;

her clothing is fine linen and purple.

If[fn] a man divorces his wife

and she leaves him to marry another,

can he ever return to her?

Wouldn't such a land[fn] become totally defiled?

But you!

You have prostituted yourself with many partners —

can you return to me?

This is the LORD's declaration.

It is good for a man to bear the yoke

while he is still young.

After the LORD commanded the man clothed in linen, saying, “Take fire from inside the wheelwork, from among the cherubim,” the man went in and stood beside a wheel.

Lord, righteousness belongs to you, but this day public shame belongs to us: the men of Judah, the residents of Jerusalem, and all Israel ​— ​those who are near and those who are far, in all the countries where you have banished them because of the disloyalty they have shown toward you.

One of them said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the water of the river, “How long until the end of these wondrous things? ”

I said to her, “You are to live with me many days. You must not be promiscuous or belong to any man, and I will act the same way toward you.”
