“He is to say to them, ‘Listen, Israel: Today you are about to engage in battle with your enemies. Do not be cowardly. Do not be afraid, alarmed, or terrified because of them.
“For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.'
And the sun stood still
and the moon stopped
until the nation took vengeance on its enemies.

So the sun stopped
in the middle of the sky
and delayed its setting
almost a full day.

The sword will devour and be satisfied;
it will drink its fill of their blood,
because it will be a sacrifice to the Lord, the GOD of Armies,
in the northern land by the Euphrates River.
The LORD is a jealous and avenging God;
the LORD takes vengeance
and is fierce in[fn] wrath.
The LORD takes vengeance against his foes;
he is furious with his enemies.
“However, because you treated[fn] the LORD with such contempt in this matter, the son born to you will die.”
