Williams was pastor of the Unitarian Church of All Souls, New York City, 1883-1896. He went on to serve as headmaster of Hackley School in Tarrytown, New York, until 1905. He published a metrical translation of Virgil’s Aeneid and, in 1890, he and his wife Velma edited Hymnal: Amore Dei.
