With an eclectic mind, Swedenborg wrote on mathematics, geology, chemistry, physics, mineralogy, astronomy and anatomy. He was one of the outstanding scientists of his time, as well as being a member of Sweden’s House of Nobles. However, he devoted the last quarter century of his life to theology. His works form the basis of the Swedenborgian Church (sometimes known as The Church of the New Jerusalem). Although he never planned a church denomination, a society was formed in London in 1787. This organization eventually gave rise to the General Convention of Swedenborgian Churches.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
