Newbolt attended St. John’s College at Oxford University (BA 1895, MA 1912), and was ordained in the Church of England in 1900. He served at Wantage; St. Mary’s, Affley; the Missionary College in Dorchester (1910-1916); All Angels, Brighton (1916-1927); and was canon of Chester Cathedral (1927-1946).
