Died: July 2, 1916, New York, New York.

Arthur Henry Messiter (1834-1916)

Messiter emigrated to America in 1863, and sang in the choir at Trinity Church in New York City. He later played the organ in Poultney, Vermont; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and at Trinity Church, New York City (1866), where he served 31 years. His works include:

  • Psalter, 1889
  • Choir Office Book, 1891
  • Hymnal with Music as Used in Trinity Church, 1893
  • A History of the Choir and the Music of Trinity Church (New York: 1906)
