This Hebrew form is equivalent in use to the Hithpael, and is causative/reflexive in meaning. The separate term occurs because certain verb forms reduplicate their final consonant and change into a quadriliteral (4-letter) root rather than the normal triliteral (3-letter) root form. This form additionally lengthens the initial vowel in the first consonant.

The Blue Letter Bible ministry and the BLB Institute hold to the historical, conservative Christian faith, which includes a firm belief in the inerrancy of Scripture. Since the text and audio content provided by BLB represent a range of evangelical traditions, all of the ideas and principles conveyed in the resource materials are not necessarily affirmed, in total, by this ministry.
