Don Stewart :: How Does a Person Increase Their Faith?

Choose a new font size and typeface
Don Stewart
The disciples of Jesus asked Him to increase their faith.

The apostles said to the Lord, Increase our faith (Luke 17:5).

Know What You Believe

One way to increase your faith is to know what you believe about God. The more you know God, who He is, and what He expects of you, the more your trust in Him will increase.

Know Why We Believe

One of the best ways a person can increase their faith is to know why they believe in Jesus. A person can only trust someone as much as they know them.

But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect (1 Peter 3:15).

The evidence for the truth of Christianity is overwhelming. Once a person recognizes this, their faith will naturally increase. The more we learn about God and the world that He has made, the more we will learn to trust Him.

Taste And See

The Bible encourages the believer to taste and see that the Lord is good. It is not enough to know intellectually that God exists and that He has a plan for our lives. We need to experience it. When we put God to the test, our faith will increase because we will discover that He is indeed faithful.

Summary

We are commanded in Scripture to know what we believe about God and why we believe it. The more we know these two things, the more our faith will increase. We then put it to the test in our lives and watch God work with us. These things will increase our faith.
