Don Stewart :: What Are the Biblical Guidelines for Knowing What God Wants from Us?

Don Stewart
There are a number of universal principles to be considered in the plan of God for our lives-there are certain things every Christian should do.

1. Giving Thanks Always

The Bible tells us that God wants us to continue to give thanks to Him.

Give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).

2. Being Set Apart For God

It is God's will that we are set apart for service to Him. One of the ways we can do that is by being sexually pure.

It is God's will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid immorality (1 Thessalonians 4:3).

3. Do What Is Right

God's will is also for us to do right.

For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people (1 Peter 2:15).

4. Suffer For The Cause Of Christ

It is the will of God that sometimes we will suffer for Him.

So then, those who suffer according to God's will should commit themselves to their faithful Creator and continue to do good (1 Peter 4:19)

5. Glorified With Christ

It is also God's will that we will be glorified in Him.

Now if we are children, then we are heirs - heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory (Romans 8:17).

Summary

God does have a plan for our lives. His plan is good. To discover His plan we have to follow the guidelines given in Scripture. Therefore any time we want to discover the will of God for our lives we need to put these unchanging guidelines into our life.
