symbolized the Lord's prominence. It was arranged in a square, with the east side of the camp considered the prime position. This pattern is still followed by tent-dwellers today in the Middle East. In a Bedouin camp the chieftain's tent occupies a central position. The families are then assigned positions around his tent.
