We Rejoice In Our Sufferings

Romans 5:3-5

Theme: The Christian Response to Suffering

Point: We rejoice in our suffering.

Outline:

  1. The reality of Christian suffering.
There are four major reasons why the Lord allows suffering in the lives of Christians:
    1. An act of divine chastisement (Heb 12:6-11).
    2. A platform for God's glory (Jhn 9:1-4).
    3. The result of spiritual warfare (Job).
    4. The means of spiritual growth (Rom 5:3-5).
  2. The response to Christian suffering.
    1. We rejoice in our sufferings.
    2. We rejoice because of what we know.
  3. The reason for Christian suffering.
There are three Christian virtues God produces through our sufferings:
    1. Suffering produces endurance.
    2. Endurance produces character.
    3. Character produces hope.
