"COME, LORD JESUS."
I. "SURELY, I COME QUICKLY."
A. Almost 2,000 years have now transpired since He said that:
1. What did He mean?
a. God doesn't reckon time as we do.
1. Peter said, "1,000 years are as a day..."
2. When these events transpire that He has been relating to John, He is coming quickly.
3. We are today nearly 2,000 years closer to His return.
a. "Now is our salvation nearer than when we believed."
B. We see the events Jesus and the prophets related to happening before our eyes.
1. Daniel spoke of increased knowledge leading to world travel.
2. Jesus spoke of potential of annihilation of human race.
3. Ezekiel spoke of re-gathering of the Israelites into the land and the re-establishment of the nation.
4. In conjunction with this, Zechariah spoke of all the nations being opposed to Israel.
5. Daniel speaks of a confederate of ten European nations being the final form of world power.
6. In Revelation, it speaks of a new world monetary system based upon an assigned number.
a. Also, the capacity of an event in Jerusalem being seen around the world.
C. Surely He is coming quickly.
II. WHAT IS YOUR TRUE RESPONSE OR REACTION?
A. O Lord, can't you wait a while longer?
1. I have this trip planned to Hawaii.
2. I just ordered a new car.
3. I just purchased a new home.
4. I'm planning on getting married.
5. These things are all legitimate pursuits, but must be kept in proper balance.
B. "Amen, even so, come Lord Jesus."
1. He has a trip planned for you to a paradise that far exceeds Hawaii in beauty.
2. He has a new mode of transportation that will not break down, depreciate, or pollute the air.
3. He has prepared a place for you.
4. He has joys that far exceed the earthly joys of marriage when we as His bride are united with Him.
5. We should never be so involved with our earthly pursuits, that we cannot respond, "Amen, even so, come Lord Jesus."
