"THE MARRIAGE, AND THE MARRIAGE SUPPER OF THE LAMB."
I. WHEN WILL IT TAKE PLACE.
A. Directly on the overthrow of Babylon.
B. Marriage could not be celebrated while harlot Babylon, the false church, who pretended famously to be bride of Christ, remained unjudged.
II. WHERE WILL THE MARRIAGE TAKE PLACE?
A. Evidently in heaven.
1. See the following verses.
III. THE PRIME IMPORTANCE OF THIS SCENE.
A. Great delight to God, one He has looked forward to from all ages. Fulfillment of Lord's words in Matt. 22.
1. Christ will present the church to further a glorious church without spot or wrinkle.
B. Anticipation of Christ.
1. Eph. 5. "Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it."
C. The great prospect of all heavenly beings. See Rev. Chap. 5 onward. How Lamb is adored and praised.
IV. WHO IS THE GROOM?
V. WHO IS THE BRIDE?
A. The church, the body of Christ! Not Israel.
2. The scene is wholly heavenly. The bride could not be earthly Israel.
VI. WHAT IS THE BRIDE MAKING HERSELF READY?
A. The celebration of the event of the marriage.
1. Vs. 9, "Blessed are they who are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb."
B. It (the celebration) begins in heaven but continues upon the earth after Christ returns. Ps. 45.
