Intro: Third in series of warnings:
1. Beware of false prophets (false appearances).
2. Beware of false professions.
3. Beware of false procedures.
I. THE SIMILARITIES.
A. Similar desires to build the house.
1. Desired in same locality subjected to same storms.
2. The houses from outward observance could have appeared alike.
II. THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MEN.
A. Not always obvious.
1. The false prophet wears a sheep's skin.
B. Difference between two men.
1. One dug deep (Luke 6).
2. The other laid no foundation.
C. The characteristics of the foolish man.
1. In a hurry.
2. Very impatient.
a. Looking for short cuts.
3. Doesn't listen to advise.
a. He thinks his ideas are best.
b. He feels he knows all he needs to know.
4. Doesn't think things through.
a. Builds in dry portion of river bed.
b. Not interested in learning from history.
c. Cares not what Bible says.
D. The characteristics of the wise man.
1. Doesn't rush into the construction of building.
a. Seeks instruction.
b. Listens to advice.
c. Digs deep to lay foundation on rock.
III. DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HOUSES.
A. Time to note is at beginning.
1. If you wait till house is built, too late.
B. Once houses are built, difference is not obvious.
IV. BUILDING ON THE SAND.
A. Building on experiences.
1. His own feelings.
2. Experiences of others.
B. Building on ideas and concepts of men.
C. Building on philosophy.
V. BUILDING ON THE ROCK.
