I. "SHEOL AND HADES "THE UNSEEN WORLD."
A. Prior to Christ's death in two sections.
1. Paradise.
a. (Righteous) To thief on cross "today thou shalt be."
b. (Dead) Lazarus comforted in Abraham's bosom.
2. Torment.
a. Rich man "tormented in this heat" tormented by conscience "Son remember".
3. Sections divided by great gulf.
B. Christ went to Hades when He died.
1. Acts 2:27 Paradise Section.
2. Eph. 4:9 Thief.
C. He led the righteous dead to heaven.
1. Eph. 4:8.
D. Christians now "in Christ" ascend, to paradise, not descend.
1. "Paul caught up into third heaven" into" paradise."
2. "Absent from body present with Lord".
